WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Army Lt. Gen. William Boykin, under fire for remarks about Muslims to a Christian prayer group, has requested an inspector general review his actions, Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld said Tuesday.

Boykin, who apologized last week for the remarks in which he implied Muslims worship an idol, made the request Tuesday, Rumsfeld said at a Pentagon news briefing.

Can't we just accept his own explanation for his statements and let him get back to the business of defending America?

"I do believe that radical extremists have tried to use Islam as a cause for attacks on America. As I have stated before, they are not true followers of Islam. In my view, they are simply terrorists, much like the so-called 'Christians' of the white supremacy groups."

I hate watching them grovel.

This would really be funny if it weren't so sad. This man's words so clearly and concisely represent EXACTLY where we are and what we face in our world today, and yet since "Muslim groups" and other enemy PC groups are "outraged," he must backtrack, apologize, and beg forgiveness for speaking the very simple truth. Must they detonate a nuclear devise on one of our cities before we get the picture? Before we understand? How ugly must it get? We can and have been a great "clear thinking" country at times, but sometimes we can be a stupid, ignorant country. Where are the voices? Where is the support for this man's brave comments? We are at war with an enemy that we fail to define. Fail to "point at." It's not what it seems. It's something else. May God help us all.

All Moslem groups are enemy PC groups? I better go tell my friends down at our local mosque that they better shape up!

Too bad my former Cub Scout colleague supports the war.

What do I say to him?

Sorry, you can't celebrate being Moslem because of some troublemakers exercising free speech and freedom of religion.

Remarkable position for him considering he grew up listening to state-sanctioned Christian prayers before many school events.

I would say he has been a real trooper in the face of a sector of our country that tries to deny him his First Amendment right to freedom of religion.

Imagine if during WW II we couldn't criticize Germans and Japanese - and we only had a "War Against Kamakazis" and a "War Against Blitzkrieg". We'd have lost.

I'm not certain we're going to make the long-haul against the idol-worshippers.

re post no. 4: "Can't we just accept his own explanation for his statements and let him get back to the business of defending America?"

Absolutely not! Christianity, Pro-Life, Conservative, Traditional Values are not politically correct and must be investigated right away - again, and again, and again...!!! (/sad sarcasm off)

Well you could ask him when his Mosque was planning to use it's 1st amendment rights to hold an anti-terror ralley, or you could ask him when his church leaders were planning on holding a public forum to speak out againt suicide bombing and publically condem Islamic terror groups?

But no . . . the Mosque's are strangly silent. Hmmm.

General Boykin has told the precise truth, from a Christian Biblical perspective.

If this widespread and truthful view can't be openly voiced in America any more, we may as well give up in the War On Terror. It's already over and we've lost.

Any people who can't, or won't, recognize the real enemy can never effectively fight him. If we delude ourselves what this conflict is about, we're dead already and may as well concede and let the Islamics take over. Maybe they'll be nice to us and relax their Dhimmi Laws?

Why not? They're no different than "us"? They just have a few different ideas which we should universally "tolerate", and we need the "diversity"!
