One thing you might consider is doing most of your emailing over the web.

ISPs like Earthlink let you send and receive emails using nothing but your normal browser, such as Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator. This is generally known as "webmail."

Earthlink also has a terrific spam filter for webmail that, when set to high, will bounce back emails from people who are not in your address book. I have it set to high and haven't had any trouble since then with viruses.

Other ISPs like Yahoo also have webmail that will scan attachements for viruses. At this point, I do all of my basic emailing over the web and only occassionally will download the emails I've already sent or screened to my regular email program, where they are stored on my computer.

So do a google for info on webmail, or ask your friends who use it. I'll bet, if you have a mainstream ISP, they already offer it.

You probably already know this, but here goes anyway. Just using Agent won't protect you from viruses and such aimed at Outlook. I learned that the hard way. As long as you have OE on your computer, whether you use it or not, they will attack it if possible, or anything else you have on your drive whether you actually use it or not. Using Agent for mail does not mean OE cannot be attacked.

Not a chance. My ISP has perhaps the most user-friendly webmail service available and it's still far clunkier than Agent, which I love. Further, email is my business's lifeline, a front door for new and existing customers who buy and use my business telephone systems. I have specific accounts set up for this, but(of course) since there are email links all over my commercial web site, all the spam-spiders are going to easily reap them. So I put up with the spam and keep Norton current.

BTW, the new Norton setting someone else suggested yestertag has cleared up the problemo of Norton shooting off fireworks and launching a Mardi Gras Celebration everytime it picks up a virus. Now it just quietly quarantines it with no notice to me. THAT problemo is fixed.

I know this thread is a few days old, but I was looking for anything on a "lovgate" virus which I have been receiving since 11/1. The code says: W32.HLLW.Lovgate.G@mm

You said: "quarantine all of the infections automatically, but there is no way to make the process automatic"

If you right click on the Norton icon and open up Norton. Click on incoming email and then on the "Options" button. When you click on that button, it allows you to change your options and one of them is to have Norton process all viruses automatically. I have mine set that way. I also get a warning screen, but it says the virus has already been deleted.
