Newsie ping. Kind of. I worked for a few years at the first paper owned by Joseph Pulitzer before he went on to run the St Louis Post-Dispatch.He got into the editor/publisher business after returning to civilian life following his tour as a Union officer during the Civil War. Long after his time in this world, of course.
If he were around to speak his mind about what came to pass with the once-exaulted award established in his name, I do not think his comments would be pretty. From what I've read of and by him, he reminds me of a couple of editors I've had in that respect.

It sure looks like the perverts and traitors get to write the history books.

Prof. Mark Von Hagen received his Ph.D. in 1984 from Stanford University. I just ran across his name in connection with a lecture series at the Europa-Universitaet Vladrina, in Frankfurt/Oder; he will speak on Jan. 13, 2004, on "Ukraine Does Have a History: What Does It Mean in the Eastern European Context?" (The rest of the lectures are all on Polish or Ukrainian history; Frankfurt is on the German/Polish border.)
Today, incidentally, is the anniversary of the beginning of the Hungarian Revolution of 1956.
