A bipartisan delegation of U.S. congressmen visiting Mexico Wednesday said they expect quick passage -- perhaps as soon as December -- of a bill that would help some immigrant agricultural workers gain legal residency.

However, the delegation, which is to meet with Mexican President Vicente Fox Friday, said broader immigration reform is still far off.

Tancredo said he had enough votes to block the McCain/Kolbe amnesty bill in the House Judiciary Committee.

"The bill would simplify the H2A visa program so agriculture employers can more easily hire immigrants as temporary farm hands if they can't find U.S. workers."

For 3 dollars an hour

But the bastards aren't going to pass it as a stand alone bill -- they know they don't have the votes to do that. The strategy is to attach the language to the appropriations bill, because that's a "must pass" bill or the government shuts down. And you know who they'll blame for shutting down the government -- we "racist" creeps who won't give amnesty to illegal aliens. (And this IS an amnesty bill, it give legal status to those who broke the law to get here.) McCain and Cannon need to be defeated in their primaries over this.

"Broader immigration reform is still far off"

Why? We are being overrun with illegals and they are going to wait until a few million more arrive?

Tancredo said recently that it would be "Very difficult" to get any bill passed that has ANY component of amnesty in it.

Remember these are Democrats pandering in Mexico.

I'll believe Tancredo before I believe Farr.

Tancredo may just be the write-in candidate next year if this comes to fruation. Since 9-11 I have though that maybe this go-around I will vote for GW with tongue in cheek. However, this passage will undo this & again for the 4th election in a row after numerous pubbie votes prior, a vote to 3rd party. Man I am tired of this "Two-Party Cartel".

I think we will be hearing alot of sad stories from Mexico about abuse and exploitation this November.

That is the reason I posted another story today about Americans being abused and exploited in Mexico.

I wish TT would run. Someone needs to challenge our nearly-worthless President on this issue.

Tancredo said he had enough votes to block the McCain/Kolbe amnesty bill in the House Judiciary Committee.

He said he supports term limits, too. He lied.

It's interesting how our elected officials describe legislation that rewards Lawbreaking Illegal Aliens with Amnesties as "immigration reform". By this definition could legalizing Bank Robbery be termed "Banking Reform"?

Take a state with 20 million people (CA). 75% of its workers are middle class or higher workers who subsidize its poor and lower class workers........Then, swell its population to 36 million with third world low wage earners. Now you've got a plumeting number of high wage earners paying increasing costs to subsidize the growing poor numbers. Many of these high wage earners leave the state all the while more third world people enter to take advantage of the benefits provided by an ever decreasing pool of high wage workers. What will the next 10-15 years of unlimited immigration do for CA?

Well, I'll believe Tancredo before I believe anybody else in capitol hill! But the Bush people and the GOP leadership have treated Tancredo so shamefully, and their pandering to illegal aliens so blatant, I am absolutely expecting them to try and sneak the language into something else to make it harder for Tancredo and his allies to fight it. How many 9-11s do we have to go through before we are going to secure our borders?!!? (Sorry, I know I'm preaching to the choir, but our refusal to deal with the illegal alien problem makes me completely insane.)

"Tancredo may have 2/3rds of Republicans behind him, but that's only 1/3rd of the House."

He doesn't need every House Republican.

He only needs to convince the Judiciary Panel to shelve the issue, and then the Amnesty bill will NEVER be voted on in the full House.
