I don't think it's an insurance matter. Terri's parents offered this creep half a mil to give up custody. He declined. I think it has something to do with welt marks around her neck when she was first injured, along with, if I remember correctly, two broken legs. I believe this man tried to murder her, and he doesn't want her to find a way of communicating this to others. He also indicated a homocidal frustration about her, walking into the hospital and asking, "Is the b*tch dead yet?"
