Norwegian Labour Party Forges Ties With US Democrats

Norway's Labour Party is joining other European social democrats in linking up with the Democrats in the US. The goal is to be prepared with common strategies if a majority of them on both sides of the Atlantic come back to power.
A group of European social democrats, led by former British Foreign Minister Robin Cook, met last week with several top Democratic politicians and party officials. They included US senators Hilary Clinton and Joseph Biden.
They also had meetings with Ron Klain of presidential candidate Wesley Clark's campaign, and Stan Greenberg, former US President Bill Clinton's campaign strategist in 1992.
On the agenda was European concern over current US foreign policy and the effects of globalization.
Espen Barth Eide, who led the Norwegian delegation, said the group met "understanding" that "economic globalization must be accompanied by political globalization."
There remain wide differences between the European social democrats and their counterparts in the US, who tend to be far more conservative.
Barth Eide called it "natural" however, "to begin with those (in the US) who are closest to us (in ideology), even though the Democrats of course aren't social democrats."

What is THIS about? Are they going to sneak all the Norwegians into Minnesota and let them vote for Hillary?

They also had meetings with Ron Klain of presidential candidate Wesley Clark's campaign, and Stan Greenberg, former US President Bill Clinton's campaign strategist in 1992. Will the chatter of international agitation be "turned up" before the election to put Clark in?
Why not? Kerry is confabbing with Kofi Annan.

There are actually more Norwegians outside of Norway than within. There may be less Norwegian Labour members, than democrats in Los Angeles. Seriesly.

What is THIS about? Maybe to cynically generate an international "buzz" of criticism about Bush before the 2004 election.
Heck, the "pretty sorry group" is more approving of the opinions of Chirac and other leaders than those countries' own voters.

As I said before, I don't know who hates America more, the French or the Democrats? I guess I need to add the Norwegians!

Wonderful. "Political Globalization." Great. These people will pander for a vote anywhere. Felons, illegal aliens, dead people and now Norwegians.

These guys are about as bloodthirsty as your typical pro-abortion Democrat can be anyway.
It's a natural match.
One big difference is that virtually all Norwegians, whether traditionalist or mind-numbed, knee-jerk Liberals, favor off-shore drilling for oil.

Well, they do call it "International Communism" - and as their numbers dwindle here, they need all the help they can get.

oh no - I'm not even going to go there - most of the oly and lena jokes I know are the sort of thing that would have the admin moderators all over me in a heartbeat!
I'm a PK (my father was from the German Lutheran part of the old ALC) who spent his highschool years living in Norwegian Lutheran territory (North Eastern Iowa). When I was teaching middle school in Virginia I used to tell the kids that racism didn't depend on skin color - and then tell them a very sanitized version of the German/Norwegian/Irish (Catholic) sorts of things that went on where I grew up...really freaked some of them out, but made them much more aware of whether or not they were actually treating people as equals or not....

Just when I thought US Democrats couldn't get any spookier. If this isn't a reason to keep the rats out of power, I don't know what is.
