...the fact that someone we may hate agrees with us does not suddenly make us wrong.Of course not. That would be a non-sequitur. You were already wrong. : )

Even I sometimes -- rarely -- agree with the ACLU. However, the fact that the ACLU takes a stand is strong -- although not dispositive -- evidence that the other side is right, and, whenever I do find myself agreeing with the ACLU, that makes me give my own opinion a second and a third thought.

Please provide a link vai FReepmail to some of those comments. I'd like to see them, but don't wanna spend too much time there searching, and it's not wise to publish their DUllness here -- don't want to encourage the vermin.

I am 6 weeks pregnant, and obviously my baby as of now can't survive on his/her own--guess I should just move on!
Wait, my 5 year old and my 13 month old can't survive on their own either--guess I should just move on!
Little Logan (who is a FReeper, BTW), was born at 26 weeks gestation--couldn't survive without a bunch of tubes and machines for a while. He is home, but is still dependent on one tube. Guess his parents should move on too!
If Terri had been hooked up to ventilators and all sorts of machines other than just a feeding tube for the last several years, I might feel that it would be best to just let her go. Obviously, she has the will to stay alive--if not, she would have passed on a long time ago. So she doesn't have the quality of life you think is desirable--there are so many people out there who have been rehabilitated from conditions like Terri's. She hasn't even been given the chance! Oh, that's right, I guess we should just move on.
When someone's condition makes us uncomfortable, we say that THEY are suffering so that we can feel less guilty about moving on. JMHO...

It is buried in a long thread there about Terri. If I can find it again, I'll point it out to you though.

Congrats!!! Your youngest 2 will be about the same spacing in age as my son and daughter. You better get as much rest as youn can, because 2 in diapers is a lot of work! (but it's very much worth it)
My two are 1 yr and almost 3yrs now and actually play together fairly well already.
My hubby and son are visiting my in-laws in another state right now though and I am missing them terribly! (they are having a little grandfather, father, and son bonding weekend on the farm) I've only been away from my son overnight twice ever before this and I am definitely not handling it well!

I was notified by another freeper that they are listed on the "Communist USA" website. I checked it out and he/she was right. Unbelievable, but then I'm not surprise. I wish this organization would just crumble.

Leaders of theAARP, the huge lobbying group that claims 2.6 million Floridians age 50 and older as members, are discussing whether to weigh in on the issue, said state Director Bentley Lipscomb.
The organization remained silent several years ago as the state's Supreme Court debated whether terminally ill, mentally competent patients should be allowed to end their lives with their doctor's assistance.
"Our members tell us that [medical self-determination] is a very important issue to them," Lipscomb said. "They're telling us they are very disturbed to think they could sign a living will or do not resuscitate order and have it overridden by the Legislature."

PING but no surprise - ACLU joins Michael Schiavo
As an aside, I just got an idea: Could we ask the admin moderator to ZOT Michael Schiavo and George Felos? I understand that the AM's powers are legendary.
From the honorable and mega-powerful Admin Moderator homepage: homepage.
That would be cool. How about this one:
SWEET!!

If that is in the form of a motion, I second it.

LOL-OK, it IS in the form of a motion!
Although, perhaps the Great and Powerful Admin Moderator would prefer a humble submission? LOL-Akin to peasants pleading to their overlord?

The principle issue underlying the article involves uncertainty with the legal system, which has lost its way, and not a medical or moral issue. One would think that everyone (i.e., the lawyers in this case) could accept that this case is an aberration and should not affect existing "end of life" decisions made by others. You might be interested to know that the majority of the Appeals Court Justices who approved the ruling to allow removal of Terri Schavio's feeding tube were appointed by Republican Governors, including Jeb Bush.

The law has changed. Too bad for your side, eh?

Sorry MA, I jumped on your parade. I see you already dissuaded him of the notion that 2 gazillion judges have looked at the facts and all arrived at the same conclusions.
