Eveleth, Minnesota-AP -- Senator Paul Wellstone and the seven other people who perished in a Minnesota plane crash a year ago are being remembered by their friends.
They gathered Saturday at the St. Louis County Wellstone Historic Site, where Wellstone, his wife and their daughter died.
Some speakers promised to carry forward the causes championed by Wellstone, a Minnesota Democrat, and his family.
Lisa Pattni, Wellstone's former northern Minnesota director, praised the commitment of the senator and his wife to social justice. And she spoke of Wellstone's optimism and belief in government.
Todd Markuson, the husband of Wellstone's daughter, Marcia, says he brought his young children to the crash site because he doesn't want them to remember their family from news reports.

Friends? Would these be the same friends that turned his memorial service into a party complete with singing and dancing and beach balls thrown around in the crowd?

What, staring at the site of the plane crash will help them remember her the way she would want to be remembered?
How about looking at a family photo album? How about NOT showing up on the anniversary at the site of the plane crash?

I bet that memorial was a lot more circumspect than the last one.

Walter Mondale to Bill Clinton during Wellstone's memorial service. Accidently picked up by a microphone. A little unknown fact not picked up by the mainstream media.

Still trying to wring out some political advantage out of a dead guy, huh? Well, Ted Kennedy's been doing it for the past 35-40 years, why not the Wellstones. A ghoul by any other name would still be a liberal.
