Short-attention ADD dumbass Fox producers can't stay with the news conference more than z couple of minutes. I'm sure their telling themselves that no one outside of SD cares about the details. I guess such things as relatives, friends, travel, and a sense of history, unprecedented events, potential for escalation are too much for them to grasp.

I'm right off of 94 at Sweetwater Springs Blvd. But I have to go into work today because somebody is having a party at the store! I called and they said that they still want to have it. It's very, very scary. So many people I know are being evacuated or have family being evacuated. I don't remember being this on edge. Please stay safe.

Local boy meet local girl. LOL.

Yes, the Holladay Milk Farm was where TGIF's is now and it spanned from intersect of 163 to Texas Street. Melinda Holladay was my classmate and her parents and aunts and uncles had to move all of their milk cows across the "river bottom" to where Hazard center now stands!

You stay safe too!

I'm on the north rim of I-8 in Mission Valley, just west of 805. According to channel 10 local maps - fires have not crossed south of 52 so we are clear for now. However, my mom and I have started gathering stuff. We have a plan already if they tell us to evacuate.

We have all but one nephew accounted for, but most of family was at church and it has been difficult to locate everyone.

People have no idea how lucky we were to grow up here. Particularly then, when it was so small, it was just idyllic. ;-)

I was just a kid during the Laguna fire, then the earthquake! My dad was ready to pack us up and move us back to Colorado.

My little brother lives way out in the sticks of Jamul (at the base of Lyons Peak. We are keeping our fingers crossed.

You're right --- San Diego WAS the best place in the whole USA back then.

I kept my horse at Bradley's Stables in Balboa Park and loved riding the trails on the west side of 163 and down Cypress Street and back down Park Blvd. to the stables. Hard to believe this city's growth, not to mention the growth in all county's north, south and east. Ugly. I hate it.

I've just read about Cardiff elementary --- thanks for the link.

just interviewed a resident who said that he understood that the CCNR rules won't let people upgrade their rooves from shake to tile

Maybe some confusion...all shake replacements must be class A rated.
That's either tile or steel (simulated shake ?)
Also, many houses orig. built w/ shake can't support the added weight of tile.
