As a Westerner, I find the rampant pedophilia quite disturbing.I am Westerner and not supporter of pedophilia either. This does not address lack of support for contention that pedophilia is practiced more common in Islam than in other countries. In Afghanistan, perhaps (I hear reputation, but only been there once and see nothing). But in Egypt, Syria, Saudi Arabia? These people have many problems, but among them is not pedophilia, at least not more so than we see anywhere else.

Then we have white slavery which is endemic through the Muslim Middle East. There, when a girl or woman walks unclothed in front of others, it is not of her free will, but because she is about to be purchased.

Im not aware of any studies on the subject, but my observations on the matter are based on my own experiences. The newspapers where I live have almost weekly accounts of such cases. In the United States they happen Im sure, but nothing like here.
Malaysia Reconsiders Death Penalty for Child Rapists
The interesting tidbit that was omittted from the above article is that all of the cases have been within Muslim households, not Chinese and not Indian which lends some credance to my allegation that this is somehow directly linked with Islam.
I have tried to hypothesize myself what the the link could be and have pretty much come to the conclusion that it is a combination of factors. One is the fact that women are for the most part considered a possession of the man rather than an individual combined together with the sexual repression that is prevalent in the society.

There was a news report on Israel radio yesterday concerning the fatal stabbing of a 17 year old girl in an Arab village. The girl had apparently got a new boyfriend that the family and the old boyfriend didn't approve of. This was their way of reasoning with her, I suppose.

"The display is immodest and makes of woman a mere sexual object. Moreover it is a provocation to Moslem believers."
Yup. Good.

From PakNews:
Afghan embassy rejects claims by Miss Earth contestant
WASHINGTON D.C: Contrary to claims made by Ms. Vida Samadzai, 25, Afghan beauty contestant at the Miss Earth competition in Manila, Philippines, the Afghan Embassy in Washington D.C. did not recommend her participation.
During an interview with international media in Manila, Ms. Samadzai made false claims against the Afghan Embassy in Washington D.C. by proclaiming to officially represent Afghanistan in the contest.
Ms. Samadzai's participation in the beauty competition is a personal and private decision and does not reflect the position of the Afghan Government` said embassy spokesman.

Surabi said according to Afghan culture women should not demonstrate their worth using their "beauty or bodies" but by their skills and knowledge. This is the most absurd statement I have read in years from a country that, until recently, didn't allow its females to be educated.
Slavery is freedom! Ignorance is knowledge! Islam sucks!

May I remind you, sir, that the present transitional government in Afghanistan is our ALLY, and is fighting the Talibans alongside us. You obviously display the fine art of many Freepers on this thread who simply cannot make any distinctions among Moslems and who want to nuke'm all, whether friend or foe.

Thanks for the compliment. You can call me a puritan also. I wear the badge with pride.

"proclaiming to officially represent Afghanistan in the contest. " Since she took American citizenship, Afghanistan probably considers her no longer a citizen.
The pageant might still consider her eligible to "officially" represent Afghanistan because she is from there.

"She is not an Afghan. I was shocked and felt embarrassed to see her," said 30-year-old Mohammad Ashraf, a Kabul University student. True, she is no longer an Afghan. Her life would be forfeit. She is an American now and should have represented herself as such. To do otherwise was much more than Afghanistan can handle and sure to lead to unnecessary recrimination and bloodshed.

Mohammed was a child molester. All islamics are followers of mohammed. Therefore all islamics try to be child molesters. Simple to follow.
