Some of them have gotten noiser than ever. It seems that certain people have the expectation that if GOPer were "really" different from the Dems, that 40 years of liberalism would have been reversed overnight.

Fouty years? No, its been eighty years since the New Deal started. It took the left less than a decade to get the Supreme Court to start mangling the commerce clause. From there, it has been steadily downhill.

Our first halting steps back to sanity were in the 80's. Unfortunately, every time we have had a conservative president, they have had to spend their political capital on cleaning up world problems created by the left. If you weren't an adult in 1980, you have no idea how badly our situation vis-a-vis the communists had deteriorated under just four years of Jimmy Carter. So a lot of the domestic problems created by the left have remained intact--our nation's survival came first.

I am still hopeful that we will someday be able to reverse the tide. After all, high tide eventually goes out. And, for me, I'm comfy sitting sitting on the beach ordering back the tide. (So it didn't work so well for King Canute. But then, maybe he didn't work at it long enough.)
