Rod Roddy, the flashy-dressed announcer on "The Price is Right" whose booming, jovial voice invited lucky audience members to "Come on down!" for nearly 20 years, died Monday. He was believed to be 66.
Roddy, who suffered from colon and breast cancer, died at Century City Hospital, according to his longtime agent, Don Pitts. He had been hospitalized for two months.

I hope the first words he heard weren't...
Rod Roddy, come on down.
To: Brian S
God rest his soul. I remember him as far back as I can remember watching TV.

Aw, that's a shame. I watch the PIR while on the treadmill at my gym. Beats the heck out of Ellen Degeneres, and the hags on The View.
Sounds like he didn't have much family. Sad.

Damn, Bob Barker buries another announcer. I still remember when Jonny Olsen had Rod's gig.

Very sad though - I remember staying home from grade school when I was sick...and the major benefit was being able to watch TPIR.

Wow, him and Re-run within a week of each other. Anyway, I always thought it was funny the way he announced the power steering as if that was a great new feature.

when I was about 5 I remember they changed over to Rod. I remember because I was babysat by a woman who would plop us in front of the TV for eight hours until my parents got home from work. ahh, I miss the eighties.
Odd that I remember that, who did he replace?
To: Brian S
Whew! I thought for a minute that something happened to Bill Cullen.

Johnny Olsen. I remember him as well.
Price is Right is one of the first shows I remember as a little kid. I remember it at 2 or 3 years old.
