Thanks lainie,

Maybe this will be a better day for y'all out there in So.Cal.

It doesn't seem fair that we're having all this rain in Philadelphia and you get nothing.

Praying hard

PS, If I don't post anymore, I fell asleep at the keyboard.

Steve Walker from 7/39 (NBC) just reported live from Julian. He interviwed a FF who confirmed the fire was headed right for Julian.

The narrator stated that hundreds of homes in Pine Valley were lost

Do you think they'll save Julian?

I hope and pray that they do.

It would be such a boost for the FF if they do. (Let alone a boost for the homeowners there!)

Pine Hills, about 2-3 miles from Julian is/was a rustic, beautiful neighborhood in the trees. It also had a dinner theater up there at The Pine Hills Lodge, last time I checked. Sad night...

Not sure. They're live on the air. The footage is pretty horrendous and after this commercial they're going to talk up Sparky's Folly. Other than that, no real new news to tell.

1552 homes lost
522,000 acres burned
$2 billion dollars so far

Er, I think you mean Cuyamaca. :) Although I bet there's mangoes down there somewhere!

Might be charbroiled mangoes tonight, though... *sigh*

Called my aunt who lives in LA and she says the smoke smell and ash is atrocious. I suppose that's better than having ones house burned down though.

It is nice. If it burned, there would have been so many more homes destroyed. The church is in the middle of a very nice neighborhood.

From SignonSanDiego.com website.

Associated Press
Members of the Los Padres hot shot crew stand in front of a backfire outside Julian.

Battle for Julian

Evacuations continue as flames press toward Julian, Descanso, Palomar Mtn.

Firefighters struggle to keep flames away from Julian after fire moving along a miles-wide front destroys the community of Cuyamaca. Other blazes burn toward Palomar Mountain and jump south across Interstate 8 at Descanso.
