'Mornin all. Going to catch up, see what's left standing. Nothing on cable tv this am except brief blips. Only thing interesting was Don Imus calling NBC news reporters "the worst kind of media whores." Love ya Don. :)

Scanner chatter this morning on the mountain seemed pretty positive.

Thanks for posting that map - great reference from www.SignOnSanDiego.com
I posted in over on the Fire Thread for 10/29. LOL Always a day late and a dollar short.
To: Letitring
P.S. I was thinking this new thread would be at the 500-700 range by now. The reduced posting is probably a pretty good sign by itself, heah?

Are we seeing rays of hope?

There is a lot of thick fog up in the San Bernadino Mountains.
Not much can be seen.
There are many meetings of fire crews, people getting breakfast, trucks getting repairs and fuel.
Enchantment village, immediate area, was saved by fire crews late into the night.
I have not had any success trying to raise the video from any choppers.

Thank you, First Salute. I'm saving this thread to read all the info from the article you posted under the map. How did you do that?

Per KOGO
Weather - winds to gust up to 50mph today in the mountains (Julian, Santa Ysabel area)
20% chance of rain tonight - very little but might help.
Praying for rain for California.

Thanks for posting this. Where did you get this update. We have a house full of people - and dogs and cats - from Big Bear that had to evacuate. This is the first bit or real news we have gotten on fire position. Would like further updates like this. Thanks.

KOGO
Small flare up near Lake Jennings.
Concern about stiff winds - west to east directions- concern about Paradise and Cedar fires merging
300,000 acres burned by these 2 fires.

My grandparents had a log cabin up at Pine Hills. Sold the property many years ago. I imagine that it's gone, now.
Satellite imagery shows that the moist air boundary running from west to east, that blanketed the fires around L.A. last night, will drop to the south some, today, the upper skies should clear. Upper air is still heading west to east. Surface winds are currently out of the south.
Winds are still expected to come around to the west; erratic.

According to KTLA this morning no choppers or planes can get up in the mountains to even survey because of wind, fog, and smoke. Visibility is near zero in some areas so firefighters are unable to move around.
The Stevenson Ranch fire for the most part is contained with a containment line around the fire -- very few hot spots left except burning in a canyon with no structures in danger.
Looks like Arrowhead Village came through in great shape as the fire did not get over that far -- large amount of fire equipment still there in case the wind takes a different track. Much of Arrowhead proper is still standing. Moisture is a big plus for the firefighters this morning. Made a turn for the better in the Mountains this morning at least near Arrowhead.

Yes. I hope the spin doctors don't turn this against mountain home dwelling now. (You know--it's not environmental policy; it's people who want to live in the country that are the problem.)
To: First_Salute
Over the San Bernardino Mountains? They have been reporting all morning that visibility is too poor to fly over the Mountains. Did it clear some because the last live report showed visibility still really bad.
