There is a lot of info HERE, for anyone who wants to help out the fire victims. Two KFI sponsored fundraisers tomorrow - one in Laguna Woods, one at the Rose Bowl.

I'm not spamming, just having trouble getting people onto the thread! :(

I heard tonight that over 250 homes were lost near Lake Arrowhead... Praying hard for all of those affected.

Yes, we are getting grief about that from the mtn bikers. They claim the front wheels (without fenders) spin up the road apples into their mouths. They are trying to ban us from using trails the horsemen created and kept open for the last 60 years. We basically told them we pay taxes, also, and we can use the trails. One biker actually said she thought the horses should be required to have bags for the road apples hanging off their back ends. This was a woman who has a college education and a fairly responsible job. I said they should put fenders on their bikes or wear masks......Alot of them have a great tendency to come up behind us very rapidly and not aleret us they are coming. One of these days..whammo- a hoof in the chest or something.

Cold Springs Tavern is still there on 154. Actually, it is off of 154 and very easy to miss.

Good thread folks - I'm in San Luis Obispo and don't get any LA stations (and the National Stations all suck wrt The Fires).

God Bless the FF's and all that have been impacted by these blazes.

Live audio of the scanner comes in along with the chat? Do I need special software for that? Is it a different scanner from the Compucations feed? Was the scanner abandoned or Big Bear?

I'll let spectr17 answer your questions because he knows about it. In my experience, Yahoo chat/voice runs automatically, unless maybe it's javascript. The scanner was running at Big Bear and was taken down when dude evacuated, so it's the reminder for folks that were here at the time.

spectr care to fill in the blanks?

KTLA (ch.5) just had a story on the deceased firefighter and the other injured firemen and identified him as Stephen Rucker, 30, from Novato. The KTLA newsman was close to the incident (he said 300 yards) and was almost overtaken by the same flames. I found it very disturbing to watch the video of other firefighters risking their lives (they came out uninjured) to protect the newsman and his camerman.

These firefighters have a tough enough job to do - they shouldn't have to babysit media types who put themselves in harm's way.

May God bless all of these brave firefighters.
