'Cornershot' (new 'rifle' shoots around corners)

In this handout picture made available Tuesday Oct. 28, 2003 by the Israel-based Cornershot Co. in Tel Aviv, Israel, a rifle is seen composed of two parts; the front, that can swivel from side to side, containing a pistol with a color camera mounted on top, and the back section which consists of the stock, trigger and a monitor. According to a report by the Israeli daily 'Maariv' newspaper, the pistol, produced by the Florida-based Cornershot Holdings, is being tested by the Israeli military and has already been bought by a number of special forces around the world. The unique weapon allows a soldier to remain behind cover, with only the barrel of the rifle exposed in the direction of the hostile fire.

Whatever it is, it doesn't look like it would have too much stopping power.

I bet the trigger pull is off.
The Pallies ghettos are made for the UN and All Jazz Era to squawk when the IDF is forced to liquidate HamAss trash.
The Pallies have turned into a sociopathic mob with little sign of healthy civilization, aside from their fixation on their death cult.
There needs to be the day when the ghettos are cleared by dozing after HE turns 3 generations' housing to rubble.

The Germans made a limited run of such a weapon toward the end of WWII.

The only German around-the-corner weapons I know of were standard submachine guns with a 90 degree deflector to turn the bullet.
The deflector barrels quickly worn down of course, and the things were murder to aim (the kickback, no aiming, and the twisting meant they were inaccurate), but worked modestly well (as long as you had plenty of bullets) in house-house and room-room fighting.
This style is a cleaner design: put the gun and the site around the corner (both ways even!) and not the shooter.
IR camera as an extra would be nice. Low-light TV adapter? Needs the rest for accuracy.

Military History did an article on the weapon a few years back. It was called "kammerer" something or other (a web search didn't bring anything up, unfortunately).

I bet the Brady Bunch is already planning their offensive on this terrible assault weapon. I can't even imagine the terror these will inflict once they are unleased on our streets. LOL

No, Tom and Jerry were the first. Jerry used to stretch the gun all the way around the mousehole and it would fire right into Tom's ass.
I like that yelp he does: OW OOH WOO WOO WOO!

Whatever it is, it doesn't look like it would have too much stopping power. Unless you can latch a .44 mag into it. I think the bigger problem is accuracy.

I loved it when Tom always took the shape of the object that Jerry nailed him with.
Those cartoons are classics. Thank God for Cartoon Network.

Sorry, it's a felony for us peasants. If it's got a shoulder stock, the barrel has to be at least 16" long or it's an illegal "sawed-off rifle" that would be a violation for us peasants to own, under the 1934 National Firearms Act.

Maschinenpistole mit Vorsatz J. P or V; (Maschinenpistole 44 mit Krummlauf)
The curved barrel of the Maschinenpistolen were a remarkable wartime development and illustrate the gusto with which the German High Command entered into futile projects, which promised relatively little and diverted valuable production time from more conventional weapons.
The base for the Krummlauf device was an MP44 to which was fitted a curved barrel unit with suitable mirror sights attached to the muzzle. The prime object was to have a weapon which the occupants of armored personnel carriers could fire through the weapons ports at infantry who were very close to the vehicle and attempting to stick mines or grenades to it.
The idea originated in a system for testing aircraft machine guns, which have to be capable of functioning irrespective of the attitude of the aircraft. To test a gun at a high angle of elevation demands a very long impact area, not always conveniently found. Therefore a curved barrel attachment was devised, to be clamped to the machine gun barrel and divert the bullets into a sandpit some short distance away from the gun. From this arose the idea of applying it to a combat weapon for close protection of vehicles.
Three versions of the Krummlauf were envisaged; one which turned the bullet through 30°, (MP44 mit Vorsatz J, MP44 K/30); another which was intended to turn it through 90°, (MP44 mit Vorsatz P or MP44 K/90) and a final design, never leaving the designers bench the MP44 mit Vosatz V capable of a 40° deflection. Only 10,000 of the first type are known to have been ordered in 1944 and ever properly developed.

Actually, the firearm part of the weapon system looks a lot like a Glock pistol. If that is the case, they come in a variety of combat-effective calibers. The problem I see with the configuration as shown is that the spent brass would be ejected right at the face of the shooter. Getting hit in the nose with a hot shell casing really f**ks up your aim!
