Common sense and the slightest experience with computers tells you not to record votes in purely electronic form. The safest voting machines in existence are the ones still in use in New Jersey in which you press down a lever to physically record your vote, and these are mechanically transferred to counts in the back of the machine. States started using paper ballots because they were cheaper, and they are using electronic ballots because they are stupid.

That's what we use down here in Louisiana too. Following the '96 Senate election where Landrieu stole the election due to massive voter fraud in New Orleans, the state clamped down where it needed to. Voters are now required to show proof that they are who they claim they are. Since then, the mechanical lever machines work just fine.

Electronic voting is the RATS dream come true. Instead of getting hundreds of people to go from precinct to precinct pretending they're people who are dead, or didn't vote, they can just use a few hackers in the DNC basement to change votes. And with no paper trail, nobody will ever be able to prove they stole an election.
