Gov. Gray Davis' administration has denied a request by The Bee for information detailing the effects of state budget cuts on public services.

The files could include information on how Californians would feel the impact of spending cuts in a vast array of state programs, including fewer offices, reduced hours and curtailed services.

I'm disappointed (if hardly surprised) that the Bee is seeking information with such an obvious lefty agenda and bias -- "how will people be HURT by these CUTS?", even though the total state spending went UP in last year's budget -- the raw information they seek plainly should be released.

"Gov.-elect Arnold Schwarzenegger has said he wants to make government more open to public scrutiny."

Perhaps the Bee will get the info from the new guv - you know, the one that they hate.

To you folks in California:
This is another Liberal Press Lie. Back several months ago I remember seeing a lady from the Bush Adm.I think on C-Span being grilled by a buch of these liberal Congress critters about a situation like this. She explained the reason it needed to be done and also mentioned that roads should be cut and they would act as firebreaks and some of the libs were complaining that they just wanted it to aide the logging industry.
I am telling you your liberal Democrats are the ones that were against this because of the environmentalist and they have burned up more land and killed more wildlife than they could save with their agenda in two lifetimes. Now they try and pass the buck.

Just 2 weeks to go. I'm predicting state bureaucrats, including the legislature, will resist cooperating with the audit. I expect there will be delays while waiting for court orders.

They just don't want us to see that they're all phantom cuts, just like the 800 phantom job cuts.
