2 Shelby Mustangs?!?!? Hoarder!

The Lotus is definitely going to be my next car. I owned a 1967 Lotus Europa and loved that car. One of my friends in college was 6' 11" tall and was able to fit in the passengers seat. It was a real hoot watching him get in and out of that car. It was a real accordian job, but he claimed that he was comfortable once in the car. Go figure!

BMW doesn't recognize Isarel as a state...That is an urban myth perpetuated by the ignorant. Go to the BMW International site. Under the heading, "Go local", it reads:
"Information about the range of services on offer in each country, the BMW brand and its products. BMW international."
Now, scroll down the "Go Local" list, and you will find Israel immediately after Iceland.

I was going to post the rather bizarre response I received in answer to the Reagan program email I sent to Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. But since this thread has evolved into car buff talk, I think I'll find another thread, LOL.

One other thing you'd notice about the Neon is that it handles superbly and has superb wet traction. The muscle cars of the 60s and 70s never handled well enough or felt tight enough for me to want to go any more than about 65 mph in any of them while 80 in a Neon feels perfectly safe under most highway conditions, assuming you're in Montana or someplace where traffic and cops would allow it. 80 in Virginia is reckless driving and a misdemeanor offense.

Let us know and MAYBE I can stay on topic.
(Yeah right! Though the first word in the title is a car company... )
I did want to talk about CBS but doubt I'll have anything new until after it airs. And d_mn, I am worried about the extra money this is going to cost me. I can't decide if it's principle or pride that's driving me.
"...since this thread has evolved...
Oh, oh, you're a car creationist? Maybe I can get it to 'evolve' in a really different direction?
The weather's nice and a friend called, said he's bringing his Mustang up so I can't miss that. It's a P-51 Mustang - even faster than the ___(fill in ANY car short of Breedlove's or Arfon's!). If it's not cars, it's bikes or planes.
Have to run for a couple hours but I will answer all posts and Freepmail tonight. The Saturn dealer (owner?) left a message so I'm going to stop by there on the way to the airport.

I read a book about the Hunt brothers and thought if I can corner the Shelby market...
There are 2+, one(the +) is in a LOT of pieces - paid $100 for it. Another was a birthday present - unrestored and the last was from a DEA auction. The 2 have a lot of work in them.

6'11"!! Whew, I never even tried one on. I had a Lotus 7 that was amusing to everyone when I got in or out of it. I doubt I even can bend that way anymore. If the top was up I had to undo it, get in, and try to fasten it over me. 180hp Twin Cam.
http://sunspeed.com/ These guys put Honda engines in the Elise. The cars were calling me but I managed to resist. Though their Lotus 23 looks mildly insane. I figure a legal Lotus is the way to go...

I won a Neon in a contest about 4 years ago, gave it to a niece. The base model, stripped but she loved it. And I still get hugs.
I think one of the big improvements since the '60s is tires are so much superior to what was available then. The Corvette came with F70 bias-plies. With modern Toyo (have to go look to see if that's the brand) in the largest size that fits it is an entirely different beast.
Brakes are the other major improvement. Fade is almost impossible to produce on the street these days whereas I drove my cousin's '57 T-Bird and those suckers would start to go away on the first (too) hard stop. Never had the nerve to see what stop #2 was like.
I go to Colorado and Montana several times a year so I do get some open space but unfortunately there are all the other idiot drivers around so I hit the track for fun.

I wasn't even aware there were used Trabants around. Maybe that pile of rust under the tarp might have been one?

I stopped by the Saturn dealer Saturday and got nothing. He said he had no control over the situation whereupon I said the only control I had was to NOT buy the car. When he said no one knew what was in the show I pointed him to WND, Drudge, and Free Republic. His comment? "Oh." I said I'd wait until I saw it to make up my mind. And left.

Apparently, BMW (in Dubai) had a map that didn't show Israel. They corrected it within a day of its being pointed out. Perfectly understandable, doing business in an Arab country, a company doesn't want to irritate the potential buyers. After all, the US State Dept. gave me a restricted passport just for Israel. They used to provide pages you put in just to go to Israel and then removed if you went to an Arab country to avoid hassles. Just the hassles of the Middle East.
The ADL has a note about BMW, it doesn't bother them. And like you said BMW has an organization in Israel.
My IAF frined replied that in his squadron, there are 6 BMWs owned by pilots and a crew chief. They don't care a whit, they love the cars.

A guy down the street from me restors cars - he restored a Shelby Mustang a while back. I'll never forget the unholy roar when he lit the engine up without the muffler attached! The ground shook, children ran for their mother's arms, it was glorious.
