I should not be able to buy anything at less than the fair market value,
More correctly, it's an unfair business practice to dump product on the market below cost in an attempt to run competitors out of business.
and the fair market value of a product must also include the costs of keeping Americans employed.
No. What I said was that as a result of dumping said product into the American market that American workers would likely lose jobs. In the case of citrus farmers, when you lose your job, you lose your land, too.
Regardless, we should support American businesses over foreign ones whenever possible. In this case, support is needed to level the playing field with regard to South American citrus producers.

"More correctly, it's an unfair business practice to dump product on the market below cost in an attempt to run competitors out of business. "What proof do you have that this is happening to the Citrus industry? Who is selling below cost?
"Conversely, you also should not be able--at the expense of hard working AMERICAN citrus farmers--to get them for *less* than they're worth either."
Who decides what a product is worth? I do, the consumer.

"What I said was that as a result of dumping said product into the American market that American workers would likely lose jobs."Nice inflamatory language. Now change it to:
"What I said was that as a result of selling said product into the American market that American workers would likely lose jobs."
Selling v. dumping. Are you OK with selling?
"Dumping" is selling below cost. If that is what they are doing, I agree with you. "Selling" is at cost plus profit. If that is what they are doing, do you agree with me?
