GA Bump!

So I cannot vote for a candidate who wants us to cut and run with our shirttails at half-mast. Bump!

Shame on me! I'm a Georgia voter who called Miller, "Zig Zag Zell", and I never voted for him. But when Miller was appointed by a democrat governor to finish out Republican Senator Coverdell's senate term, he promised Georgians he would be unbiased, I tentatively believed him. I thought he wouldn't want to finish up a long career by lying to the people of Georgia. Thankfully, that has proven so.
Zell Miller is showing Bill Clinton how to write a legacy.

Great essay. Senator Zell Miller comes close to the definition of a statesman who sees broader national interests over narrow partisan interests. We will miss him when he leaves the Congress.

Just think.... the Dems can't wait for this guy to be gone in Jan. '05.
They have no idea what they're losing.... Zell is almost literally the last Democrat of any national prominence left, who does not come off as a through-and-through foaming extremist. It's a good thing for us he isn't running for President, 'cause he'd give Bush serious trouble.... on the other hand, he'd be the only Dem candidate I can imagine who could win and still allow me to fall asleep on Election Night.
I picture the Democrat Party as a group of lemmings that have coalesced into a ball to, as one, take that final willing leap off the cliff of sanity.... but remain hanging in space because one of their number, Zell Miller, refused to join them -- and instead secured a rope around his waist and stood firm on solid ground, with the other end of the rope tied to the writhing ball of resentful leftist lemmings.
Finally the one sensible lemming saw that it was pointless and decided to just cut the rope. It's left to us to wonder which side is happier to be rid of the other.

"I find it hard to believe, but these naive nine have managed to combine the worst feature of the McGovern campaign -- the president is a liar and we must have peace at any cost -- with the worst feature of the Mondale campaign -- watch your wallet, we're going to raise your taxes. George McGovern carried one state in 1972. Walter Mondale carried one state in 1984. Not exactly role models when it comes to how to get elected or, for that matter, how to run a country." Absolutely a brilliant line. It will work during Saturday night debates with your liberal friends.

And I like a man who shows respect for others by starting meetings on time.Small, yet very personal dig at the klintoon, who was notorious for starting meeting late. I like it.
Of course, when you think you are the center of the universe, what's the problem with making other people wait for you?

Look closely, there's not much difference among them. I can't say there's "not a dime's worth of difference" because there's actually billions of dollars' worth of difference among them. Some want to raise our taxes a trillion, while the others want to raise our taxes by several hundred billion. But, make no mistake, they all want to raise our taxes. If they had their way, only conservatives would pay taxes.
