Another article about our liberal universities. What's interesting is this statement...
"But as campus officials look for ways to accommodate the growing diversity of their student bodies, an increasingly vocal number of students...
Kind of tell me of the movement of the country not a small minority speaking out.

The Sheldon Award The award is presented annually to the university professor who "does the most to look the other way when free speech is under assault on his campus."

Kind of tell me of the movement of the country not a small minority speaking out.Say what? This sentence doesn't make any sense.
To: HarleyD
"if you're part of an intellectual minority, it's difficult for your speech not to provoke," This seems like a weak response that certainly doesn't go far enough. Any group can feign that they've been provoked or offended. Then it becomes a purely discretionary matter for the administration capricioulsy to pay heed to the claims of offense or provocation by any group with whom they might have empathy, "social-justice-wise." When it boils down the that, white males and Christians will only rarely, if ever, get any support on today's campuses.

"Higher-education officials balk at the notion of lawmakers meddling with faculty or campus decisions"
This was the funniest line in the whole article. I don't think Icould have ever imagined in my life a bunch of Liberal college administrators wanting to limit the reach of government. What's next: Liberals support smaller government only in those areas it tends to contradict their beliefs?

INTREP - EDUCATION - UNIVERSITY

the campus has pledged a commitment to racial tolerance, cultural diversity and social justiceNo commitment to a solid education.

Since then, racial slurs and other incidents have persisted. In 2001, the latest year for which statistics are available, the FBI received 987 reports of hate crimes and incidents at schools and college campuses about 10% of all hate incidents that year I wish they would have included how many of these were hoaxes. Seems almost every one I ever see reported later turns out to be a hoax.

PING!
What's interesting is this statement...
What's really interesting is that this was on the front page of USA Today!
It's also interesting to note that the same issue presented fairly robust coverage of the Conservative position on "Bishop" Gene Robinson as well as the CBS Reagan miniseries.

***Some professors stress that part of their job is to challenge students to question their beliefs.***
Baloney. Liberal professors only urge students to challenge conservative ideas. Liberal ideas are to be obeyed without question.
