What does federal law say about state law? It says (9th and 10th Amendments) that whatever the federal government can't do, if it isn't explicitly prohibited to the states, then the states or people can do.
Which basicly means that states can do things that aren't in the U.S. Constitution.
So next time, buckle up. If you can't pay the fine, don't do the crime!
Cute reply, but who would have ever thought that not wearing a seat belt would become a crime? Talk about the State becoming our surrogate parent. It's just a money making taxation scam and we all know that. The "state" could care less about anyone's safety. Witness the fact that they legalize cigaretts and booze, and they make a bootle from taxing these deadly toxins. In Massachusetts the police have over 8,000 reasons to stop a vehicle, this is just one more way to bring in the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.
Cute, but a lie. It works both ways and the national government only wants it to work when it suits their needs. The states were pressured by having federal road funds cut off if they didn't pass this nanny law. Mind you the states shouldn't be taking funds from the national government in the first place but under the blasted union it's not only expected it's almost a requirement.
Now, who pushed for us all to wear seat belts? Hmmmmmm, why yes it was an appointed Republican at the national level. Now which state does this Republican now represent? Mind you she was still practically appointed but did sit through a farce of an election. Hmmmm......
