The movie is made and can't be unmade. It'll be shown on Showtime or some other channel so what's the difference? The public will see it and believe it, which of course was the purpose. Some conclusion, just a different route and probably more $$$ after all the hubbub.

Showtime is a premium cable/satellite movie channel that is not a "rated" channel and whose audience for this showing will be a couple hundred thousand Amurricans at best. On CBS, even if it had been the lowest-rated show of the week, it would have nonetheless be seen by several million. This is a very big victory.

The difference is in the potential number of viewers. Just about everyone who has a TV can receive a CBS affiliate, not so with Showtime.
