I have a question about low carb dieting. Have any of yall lost weight by just decreasing carbohydrates? I have tried the Atkins but I really feel bad with a very low carbs intake. I lose fast (usually about a pound a day) but I can't stick with it. I've been trying to just cut back. I stopped all sweets but after 2 weeks I still have not lost. I thought about just starting at 100 and dropping down until I lose but right now I'm at a standstill (with calories) and can't afford to start gaining. Is the induction phase really necessary?

You might have an easier time on the South Beach Diet. Low carbs, but no carb counting -- foods are just identified as "good carbs" and "bad carbs." Ketosis is not encouraged. It is slower than Adkins, but it does work well. I've been on it for a few weeks now, have shed many pounds, am not hungry, and have never had that "bad feeling" that alot of people describe with Adkins.

I don't know if the induction phase is necessary for losing weight, but it sure helps to curb the carb habit. Reading your post--sounds like you've got "starch withdrawal" symptoms even worse than mine when I started.
