Yes--strange, isn't it?

They say it's "the same investigation". So I can only conclude that, if there really are federal proceedings going on, then they concern the case of Laci and her murder.

One thing: the only reason I think it's Fresno is b/c the federal district court which covers that area (Modesto and other towns) probably just happens to be located in Fresno. As we know, a federal district will cover more than one county.

A person can be prosecuted for the same crime in federal court and in state court. Don't know if that's what's happening here or not. Sounds like the federal proceedings haven't ripened into a prosecution yet. But it is a fact that a person can get hit with charges from both the federal criminal court, and the state court--for the very same criminal act. It's not double jeopardy b/c they are "different sovereigns" that are prosecuting him.
