ALEXANDRIA, Va. (AP) -- Three men accused of practicing military tactics at a paintball field outside Washington were sentenced to prison Friday for their roles in a Virginia jihad network that trained members to support a Pakistani terrorist group.

Yong Ki Kwon and Khwaja Mahmood Hasan of Fairfax, Va., and Donald T. Surratt of Suitland, Md., pleaded guilty to conspiracy and gun charges in August.

What a cool way to track these guys down. I wonder how they actually got caught. The "weekend warrior" types who play paintball are pretty hearty fellows...these guys probably stood out like sore thumbs.

Hope this doesn't reflect poorly on the sport of paintball.

I know one of the lawyers in this case, who was representing the Korean jihadi. Very strange case- the guy is from a prominent Korean family, but for some reason he converted to Islam, went to Jihadi training camp in Pakistan and came back here to train in small-unit tactics for his eventual trip to Kashmir.

His parents are apparently rich enough to afford $300/hour DC lawyers. Weird.

Very weird. Nine of the 11 men are U.S. citizens. Makes you wonder how many more are out there.

I'm not sure whether this guy was a US citizen- I think he was here as a student. The paintball thing is perfect cover for small-unit tactics training.

My friend says, in person, this guy is quite innocuous. You'd never guess that he's a Jihadi.

Conspiracy to do what? Gun charges, other than felon, and maybe foreign national, in possesion are most likely unconstitutional.

I don't doubt these guys are Jihadi no goodniks, but couldn't they at least convict them of real crimes?

with the patriot act, you no longer have to charge them with real crimes....makes it easier....
