Fire Department Spokesman Alan Etter said
State Department sources told The Washington Post that John Kokal (search) worked in a unit that dealt with intelligence and research. Sources said he handled classified documents regularly but was not involved in intelligence analysis.
Getting out in front already. the man, a white male, was wearing a dress shirt, tie and slacks, but was not wearing shoes nor a suit jacket.

Maybe not an analyst per se, but if he works in the Bureau of Intelligence and Research and regularly handles classified documents, he wasn't the copy machine repairman. According to the State Dept.'s personnel directory, Kokal was in the Near East Southeast Asia unit.

...but was not wearing shoes nor a suit jacket. Bizarre? Maybe. An interrupted tryst and he failed to successfully escape detection and/or the fury of the wife of the other fellow?
A variation on the "Woman in Red" movie with an fatal ending?
