I guess Dubya finally figured out that faux "Made In USA" backdrop of his doesn't go over too well.

The textiles moved from the New England mill cities and towns 100 years ago chasing cheaper labor to the south and the pattern is repeating again.

The high tech jobs that are moving to China, India, and Malaysia are gone forever, too, in case he hasn't noticed.

Classic reporting by the Raleigh Noise and Disturber. Major reason to get a Washington Times subscription (or thw WSJ Online).
Bush will win in NC even if that local empty suit is running as a VP candidate. Obviously some people in NC support the President if he can pick up $1.1m at a luncheon.

Retrain to do what, be computer programmers? How long before they start importing them in huge numbers again, Orin Hatch as we speak is trying to do just that.

"All we've got to do is bridge from the textile sector to the biotechnology sector with smart education practices," said BushOh. I was worried there for a moment or two...

I didn't realize that corporate and personal taxes in Mexico were
one third of what they are in the U.S. (5% vs. 15% Source: Investor's Business Daily). In fact, taxes in Mexico were the lowest of any semi-literate nation.
Is Bush going to address that little factoid?

Willie, That's a great technique you've got there: Ridiculing our President, who is doing a great job, by highlighting your favorite President-attacking parts of the article in RED.
Hey, Willie. I was there and I can tell you that our President cares deeply about the fact there are so many Americans out of work. Your cute little liberal article failed to mention the part of his speech where he spoke to all those corporate officers and business owners in the room. He emphasized that they must put their responsibilities to share holders and employees ahead of all of personal concerns. He reminded them that it was THEIR companies that will build this economy in the face of global changes. He thanked them for their efforts.
Your bogus article, with its ridiculous red highlighting, also didn't mention that President Bush fully supports faith-based organizations and that he recognizes their value as providers of soup kitchens, homeless shelters, after school programs, etc.
Your silly commie article also failed to mention that the economy is back on track and that:
The Labor Department announced Friday morning that the U.S. economy added 126,000 new jobs in October after a revised gain of 125,000 in September for a total of 286,000 new jobs since August.

Here's a snippet from the Republican Party Platform of 1952
"Our reciprocal trade agreements will be entered into and maintained on a basis of true reciprocity, and to safeguard our domestic enterprises and the payrolls of our workers against unfair import competition."

"Speaking little about fixing the textile crisis in North Carolina, President Bush focused instead Friday on worker retraining for biotechnology and other emerging fields to help displaced workers." ROFLOL, now that's a real vote getter.

"..competing against cheap overseas textiles and apparel."
Truly great news. A better life for all Americans able to afford more goods and enjoy a richer life stlye. No longer will they have to pay outrageous prices for the overpriced "union label". Even better news is that those Americans will no longer have to subsidize the democrat dominated textile unions.
