WEBWIZARD WROTE: "That no religion shall be established by law; that no preference shall be given by law to any religious sect, society, denomination, or mode of worship;..."

-----------------------------------------

I AM RESPONDING:
Please explain exactly WHAT religion or "religious sect, society, denomination, or mode of worship" the TEN COMMANDMENTS establishes?

It certainly ISN'T CHRISTIANITY!
It ISN'T JUDIASM!
It ISN'T ISLAM!
It ISN'T HINDUISM!
It ISN'T BUDDAHISM! (sp?)

So, WHAT religion do they establish???

While they form the cornerstone of many religions, there are some religions with which they are not compatible. For example, some relgions require the worship of idols, something which is forbidden by the Ten Commandments.

Personally, I would prefer the Golden Rule to the Ten Commandments as a message to be carved in stone. It goes beyond the Ten Commandments in some key ways, and yet is fully compatible with all recognized religions.
