What I would question is: How healthy are these super-donations & 527 Special-Interest groups to the Democrat Party? I would think they would tend to keep the Democrats captive to narrow, ultra-liberal special interests, rather than let them grow up, innovate and recapture some of the political center.

That's a very good question. This probably explains their leftward lurch since becoming so dependent on soft money.
It's like the left-wing rich have bought themselves a party and the regular Dems don't have enough cash to buy it back.

I would think that it would next-to-impossible for all these special interest groups to coordinate their efforts.
