Julian Bond should be considered nothing more than a marginalized, fringe extremist. He makes Dennis Kucinich look mainstream. Bond should be careful what he says, as he is pulling what is left of the reputation of the NAACP down with him. Not sure there really is anything left of its prestige, but why bury yourself when getting rid of this has-been might help? The NAACP has been plagued with charlatains, liars, and race hustlers... to its discredit. A real shame, but this is the corrosive result of the idiocy of the left. So be it.

Thanks for the info. According to Savage, 22 companies placed bids. I don't know if that is true. I'm hoping somebody here might know about that detail.

I remember the rumors about it being for sale, but never followed it closely. That was back when I paid minimal attention to political things.

Bond has been a hate-filled bigot as long as I can remember him in public life. Thank heavens I cancelled all newspaper subscriptions except the weekly Washington Times so I don't have to even have Magruder's hate literature in my home.

This is absolutely true.

Occidental Petroleum was the "winner". Al Gore is more than a stockholder in Occidental. He receives royalties from a mining lease on his Tennessee farm from them. (By the way Occidental is a big big polluter there, putting mine waste with Arsenic? into the local water).

Gore's father served on the Occidental Board for years and Armand Hammer, Chairman of Occidental ( and confirmed agent of Soviet influence) always bragged that he "had Al Gore Sr. in his pocket."

Sidebar note: The Elk Hills reserve was the subject of the famous "Teapot Dome" scandal of the Harding administration when Albert Fall (Treas. Secy.) was charged with the same thing Gore got away with, i.e., leasing oil rights to friends in private industry.

By the way, did the New York Times or Washington Post jump all over this???? Nope!

Regards,.....and this is not tinfoil!

Simple envy on Bond's part. She is where he would dearly love to be, and he knows that neither he nor any one of his ilk will ever get there. The idiots talk about Clinton being the first "black president." In fact, he is Elvis in politics, a white man who sounds black but takes money away from black performers.

They have certainly shown how depraved and gutless they are, havn't they. I remember Jbond when he was young, and he was much more well-spoken. The hysterical anger may be coming from the fact that all their honest goals have been reached, and they have hit the glass ceiling. It is now past time to EARN the places in society they wish... like Condy et al.
Now the only way they can be 'leaders' is to scream in order to frighten the 90% to vote for people like 'Elvis'.

Hopefully more blacks will realise that they don't need to be frightened anymore.

Bond has lost his marbles.

An evil 'man' who wouldn't know an American heroine if one jumped up and spit in his face.

As for McGruder, the only mileage he gets is because he is a token black on the comic pages and a worthless token at that.

One problem is that blacks (and whites)are less well schooled than they were forty years ago. When my wife's school ws integrated in the 1950s, the principal of the small black school in her WV town was reassigned to the high school, displacing one of the white teachers. Much better educated than the other teachers, she was black but well-versed in what it took to compete in an integrated society and imposing very high standards on her white students. But such teachers, white or black, are rare in today's public schools.

They really don't all think alike. Jesse Jackson just wants you to believe they do.

When 90-92% of them vote Dem no matter what the issues are, it's hard to disagree with Jesse.
They might not all think alike, but they sure do vote alike.

Most of the people I know don't. And I don't know them from political meetings. Maybe it has more to do with demographics and jobs.

Statistics say that 90-92% of them vote alike. So there's no question about voting patterns.
I'm white, but I have asked Black friends about their opinions on many issues. They all defend the Dem party line. One told me that they would be ostracized from the community if they disagreed.
I think that probably some disagree, but few dare to be vocal about it. The ballot box is secret, so that "some" is probably not very many.
