We enjoy going to Pismo Beach and Morro Bay for a few days every spring. A little relaxation and some wine tasting. Planting vineyards and wine making are a fairly recent addition to the central coastal area.
Here is a picture of Morro Rock.

A pared-down version of Calif. unusual laws. There are just too many! :-)
California State Laws
No vehicle without a driver may exceed 60 miles per hour.
Women may not drive in a house coat.
It is a misdemeanor to shoot at any kind of game from a moving vehicle, unless the target is a whale.
Baldwin Park
Nobody is allowed to ride a bicycle in a swimming pool.
Blythe
You are not permitted to wear cowboy boots unless you already own at least two cows.
Burlingame
It is illegal to spit, except on baseball diamonds.
Carmel
Ice cream may not be eaten while standing on the sidewalk. (Repealed when Clint Eastwood was mayor)
Women may not wear high heels while in the city limits.
Chico
Detonating a nuclear device within the city limits results in a $500 fine.
Lodi
It is illegal to own or sell "Silly String".
Prunedale
Two bathtubs may not be installed in the same house.
San Diego
The owners of houses with Christmas lights on them past February second may be fined up to $250.
San Francisco
Persons classified as "ugly" may not walk down any street.

Bravo! Here I am posting in the thread all day and I *finally* read it. Hee hee. Wow, I love the link to the poppy place too. They have photos of other California wildflowers, like the joshua tree flower, too. For anyone interested, here is a
Great photo of poppies!

I like this rule! Thanks for posting those.

We heard Sen. Boxer -- over and over again with the 98% -- and then we heard Sen. Chambliss' very funny retort: "My wife wouldn't accept a 98% faithfulness record. I wouldn't want my food 98% free of e coli. And I don't think a 98% compliance with the Constitution is something my friends on the other side of the aisle should be boasting about." I was watching C-Span during this and think I heard you all laughing.
I'm very proud of our new senator's, Chambliss and Lindsey Graham. Knew they looked familiar but didn't know they were in the House together....should have.
Guess the one difference in being there and watching it on C-Span is the classical music they play during the vote. They played some intensive classical during this morning's vote, not sure what that meant. LOL
Thanks for the report, I had been curious about the experience. Ping me if you see a thread on it!

Good morning JW. Hope everything is going well in your corner of California.

You know you're in California when . . . .
The fastest part of your commute is down your driveway.
You were born somewhere else.
You know how to eat an artichoke.
Left is right and right is wrong.
Your monthly house payments exceed your annual income.
You need a new TV, you can run down to the local riot and pick one up.
You dive under a desk whenever a large truck goes by.
You can't find your other earring because your son is wearing it.
You drive to your neighborhood block party.
Your cat has it's own psychiatrist.
You go to a tanning salon before going to the beach.
More money is spent on facelifts than on diapers.
Rainstorms or thunder are the lead story for the local news.
You'll reluctantly miss yoga class to wait for the hottub repairman.
All highways out of the state say: "Go back".

Oh, aqua, there are *lots* of threads on it -- it's on the "live thread" section of breaking news for the last 2 days. Tgsltakoma and Angelwood of the DC Chapter and Lisa Fab too went -- and of course they brought some goodies for the Republican cloak room, I understand -- candy and the like.
To: FreeTheHostages
Thanks for posting those. You're welcome. I'm always trying to please you. :)

Of course there is always a fly in the ointment..... Oh yes, our very own "fly in the ointment"....TMan has arrived. LOL!
Well, I have to hand it to you, you are good. I proof-read my post only about a hundred times, and missed my mistake each time. What would we do without you? LOL.
But, through the magic of photoshop, all is well. (I wish I could erase all my mistakes that easily.) ;-)

Got your mail. But what are you embarrassed about?
Whatever it was, don't worry about it. We have really thick skins here in CA.....we have to, considering the bashing we get. Thing is, most of it is well deserved. ;-)

Mornin' MB.
A fine tribute to our great state. Makes me want to visit. :)
Trying to find a pic of my first "home" in California - Boot Camp at the Naval Training Center in San Diego.
