Could be they're pissed about he Dems Intel Committee memo. The sound you hear may be the trap door under the Dem's feet being sprung. The two memos released seem to refute the Dems talking points about the Iraq/Al Qaeda connection.

I'm a little late to this: what's the second memo to which you refer?

I think you are right. I think that the CIA has to trust the intelligence committee and once they've lost that trust it'll be hard to get it back.

But-but-but we have it on HIGH authority, from the BBC itself, that there is absolutely no connection between Saddam Hussein and al-Qaeda. Such a connection was IMPOSSIBLE, because Saddam was secular and targeted practicing Muslims, while al-Qaeda is composed entirely of highly dedicated strict sects of Muslims that would NEVER do injury to a fellow Muslim.

Or have we been misinformed?

I wish that were so, but the CIA bureaucracy is packed with liberal elitists who side with the Dims. They are no fan of GWB, and they weren't of Ronald Reagan either. What's wrong with the CIA?

Rush has said repeatedly that the Dems were playing a dangerous political game that could blow up in their face.

They have been accusing Bush of fabricating the terrorist threat and al-Qaeda connection as a pretense for going to war against Saddam when the truth is Bush played down that connection.

Now with this news they have fallen into the very trap they laid for Bush.
This proves that the war in Iraq has been part of the war on terrorism, MORE than anyone imagined.
And Bush was ahead of the curve.

Let's watch the Dems try to weazel their way out of this.

Agreed. And IMO the Dims knew this was coming, which is why they spent the last year demagoguing the Bush Admin and the CIA with the "yellow cake" stories, etc. They had to blunt the coming harm to their ludicrous and blatantly political posturing by discrediting the sources.

And too, IMO the Bush Admin will have the last laugh, after the intel gained in Iraq has been analyzed and Saddam's WMD are located in Syria and Iran.

Finally, IMO the USA's strategic interest in preventing Iraq from financing and otherwise (WMD) supporting the islamists as proxies to attack the USA has been conclusively proven. No way the Dims can twist this info in their favor.

Game, set, match. GW wins.
