In his first action as Governor (from Washington Times):
Schwarzenegger slashes Calif. car tax
WASHINGTON, Nov. 17 (UPI) -- Arnold Schwarzenegger, in his first official act as California's new governor, repealed the car tax increases imposed by former Gov. Gray Davis.
Fulfilling a central promise of his successful campaign, the actor-turned-political leader signed an executive order Monday bringing down the dreaded tax shortly after being sworn-in as the state's new chief executive.
"During the campaign I promised on day one to repeal the car tax increase," Schwarzenegger said. "Today, I am making good on that promise."
He added: "Hardworking Californians who want safe, reliable transportation for their families were hit especially hard by this regressive tax. "Now, they will have more money in their pockets to pay for needed goods and services."

I'm betting each word was like a hammer strike on the ego of Davis.
Is he ordering an audit?

For millions of people around the world, California has always glimmered with hope and glowed with opportunity. It was a great speech. I just hope those "millions of people around the world" will stay home ... and not come to California.

Thank you, Tamsey!
And thank you Rob... my satallite dish went kablooie right in the middle of his speech for a few minutes (sabotage?) so I'm really glad to fill in the blank.
Arnold's sincerity inspires me.
During the campaign, he said we need more discipline.
Groupie-sycophant that I am, I decided he's right.
Now, four sizes later I'm even more convinced he's right.
If he could get stubborn me to trim the fat, imagine what he'll do in Sacramento :o)

Rob, you've made Tam EXTREMELY HAPPY and the rest of us VERY HAPPY.
I don't think our new governor had finished talking but a minute or two and Tamsey was looking for a written copy his speech! :)

He said "our republic" instead of democracy. I'm beginning to have faith in Arnold.

Oh, Gray looked awfully gray. Ordinarily, I'd have to feel sorry for a man in his position, but his treachery killed any compassion I would otheriwse have for him.
I believe the audit will commence forthwith.

Great image-making, if rather obviously choreographed. What HAS Mike Deaver been up to lately?

Access Hollywood comes on here right after the evening news. They showed Arnold and Maria coming down a hallway and toward the microphone to the tune of Hail to the Chief, which last I knew, is to only be played for the President of the U.S. I have to assume Access Hollywood is so stupid as to put the pictures to the wrong music. There wasn't any music in Sacramento, was there?

He said "our republic" instead of democracy. I'm beginning to have faith in Arnold.Yup, I caught that, too. It's amazing how many people don't know that.
Cheers, CC :)
