I have a different interest in Rush. If not FOR Rush, it is a good chance I never would have considered an Implant for my profoundly deaf 11 year old. She is now using her voice to communicate, slowly but surely. Rush gives a whole lot more than he realizes.

Yes, he has done a lot of good. Which is why his downfall hurts the cause all the more.

Did you hear the part when he read we aren't adults until we're 26???
Well, he said:
"Five weeks in rehab aren't going to make an idiot out of me!"
KickAss. Pure Kickass!
And then he said:
"You liberals, the party's over, I'm back!!"
The new Rush was like he was 10 years ago! LOL!

You can boil it down to one real simple essence: I can't be responsible for anybody's happiness but my own, and if I allow somebody else the power to determine my happiness, then...well...that's something I don't want to do. I can't do any longer. I put myself first. Doesn't mean be rudely selfish. It just means I can't depend on other people to make me happy. I have to do that myself. I'm the only one who has control over that. And I have to admit that I am powerless over this addiction that I have. I used to think I could beat it with force of will. I used to think that I would be different, but I'm not. I'm just like anybody else who has an addiction. I'm powerless over it, and I have to continue to recognize that and make sure that the things that I've learned continue to be practiced. It's a challenge, but it's exciting. The things that I have discovered about myself and anybody who went through what I've went through would discover about themselves is just sort of like being reborn here at age 50. Have you ever wished that you could take what you know at whatever age you are, 50, 45, 30, and go back to being a teenager? Well, that's what I guess is a good way to tell you what's happened to me, in the sense that the things I've learned - I can now not relive things, but it's going to give new meaning to the future.
Boy, I remember talking like this when I was in the program. He doesnt realize it, but he DID get a dose of liberalism!! 12 step ideology is a LIBERAL ideology, it will take time for him to see it!
I got out of the 12 step cults when I became a Christian. Rush needs Jesus Christ, not some program!

I heard his last show. He said that the back operations were a failure and he needed the pain medication to get through the pain. Now he is off the meds, how does he deal with the pain? I think I'd rather take an addictive drug the rest of my life than live in chronic pain. Chronic pain tends to alter the way a person thinks about that pain, so that often people feel pain w/o any reason for the pain. However, probably what happened is that the addiction remained regardless of pain.

I think he is in a support group. He doesn't talk about Jesus because it can get too deep for his show. Lots of history, philosophy, religion I would love to hear. Even Dennis Prager, a conservative Rabbi knows it bores most people. So he decides on the side of clarity. Just pray for Rush. He hit bottom, and he knows it. If he goes for the next operation, he might lose his voice. He is still in pain, but I guess Vioxx doesn't alter brain chemicles like opiates do. Serotonin and what's the other? You know. Some sort of X-inhibitors, like Valium was supposed to do. I want clarity. Do you remember what those chemical names are?

I heard Rush say today that he is now on Vioxx.
He also brought up a strange subject -- when should kids leave home? (He mentioned his step-kids kinda under his breath.)
He and Marta married in 1994 and he said today the drug habit began in 1995-96.
Also, Drudge said last night that someone went into rehab with Rush, but Drudge wouldn't reveal who it was.
I still wonder why he didn't pay his real estate taxes in 2000.
Rush for President!

The pictures I have seen today looks like Rush still has on the wedding ring. I looked for that when I read some posts about Marta his wife. I guess a ring doesn't mean everythings ok, but he still has it on.
