Arnold Schwarzenegger believes in miracles. It's hard to fault him for that, given how far he has come. The son of Graz, Austria, who willed himself to become a world-champion body builder and a world-famous actor, stood on the steps of California's Capitol Monday and took the oath as governor of the nation's most populous state, home to the world's sixth-largest economy.

Seeing Arnold telling the politicians to behave is going to have to take some getting used to. When you consider what politics in California have done over the past half a decade to the state's condition, it will take a miracle to get our state turned around.

Later, in an exchange of bottled-water toasts with legislators gathered around the Capitol Rotunda, Schwarzenegger extended his "up with people" buoyancy to lawmakers from both parties.

Arnold won't let them turn that water into "whine"...

the consequences of the policies Schwarzenegger is advocating will not be cheery, especially in the short term, for many Californians who stand to lose services and benefits when he starts cutting state programs.

Over the last decade or so, the RATs have engineered a socialist Utopian welfare state in Cal, so flush with freebies for the vermin, that the riff-raff from every other state (and a number of southern nations) have migrated here in large numbers. San Francisco alone accounts for something like 15,000 "homeless", i.e., drug-crazed, or schizophrenic, or both, BUMS that litter the once beautiful city with things that are unmentionable in polite conversation and who cost the overburdened taxpayers tens of millions of dollars.

The RAT-socialists have done this thinking they are showing compassion. They have done nobody a favor. They have simply created an unending supply of vermin and other notable worthless human trash. They are either mightily stupid or cunningly clever: welfare breeds poverty. The more you give crapheads something for nothing, the more crapheads you create. That is why socialism is a disease.

The RATs have "locked in" billions of tax dollars for free goodies for these vermin; the 'publik schul' system gets $0.50 out of every tax dollar stolen; still, its not enough for the morons who run the system. They have no upper limit to the money they crave, yet the product they turn out is more and more inferior every year. The teachers unions are the guardians of failure. No real education reform will be possible without the destruction of these unions. And they are in bed with the RATs - the money flow goes both ways.

The honeymoon between Arnold and the RAT-bastards in the legislature never got off the gorund. It was over before it started.

It will take more than a miracle to sort out the problems of Cal; it will take serious "wrath of God" stuff of Old Testament proportions.

Actually you will find that the mandated benefits were largely voted in by the people of California in another one of the populist initiatives that were instituted at the same time as the recall act. If the recall system was a good thing, then you can't blame the taxes on the Democrats when votes of the people used similar acts to tax themselves. Doesn't compute. In the campaign, it was shown several times about how the voters directly authorized the tax revenues.

Not true. The voters of California spoke loud and clear in 1998. No freebees for non citizens and by implication no more illegal squatters. Today about 30% of California's budget is spent on the consequences of illegal immigration.

Californians said "No more" to this giveaway with the passage of Prop 187. The voters aren't the problem. The liberal politicians are. Especially Davis who publically invited Mexico's poor to enjoy the labor of California's productive class in April 1999.
