I actually know some Manhattan women just like this, same age and everything, which is kind of scary.... No man is good enough, and nothing ever lasts long for them, dinner is an exercise in seeing how many times she can trip him up or he can't make her laugh on cue or whatever.

Almost always there is some guy in their past who was so perfect and did everything just right and is so much better than you and just UNDERSTOOD her by just looking at her and she didn't have to tell him to do this and that (like with you) and then she just got bored and left him or then he left her and ran off with a stripper or with her (now former) girlfriend or someone he worked with and she can't believe it took her so long to figure out he was such a rat and her mother is so controlling and criticizes her housekeeping and blah blah blah blah blah blah blah....

These young liberal women are much like the caricature they paint of controlling men. They want a man THEY can control, who will not get in the way of her career, disagree with her in public (or in private, come to that), and who has ESP about her mercurial temper and mood swings, always doing and saying just the right thing.

In short, they have persistent PMS. Women like that are enough to scare a lot of good guys off of romance. I'd rather work on a crab boat in Alaska than face a future with a woman like that.

The main difference between these sluts and real female 30-something Manhattan yuppies is that real men in NYC genuinely do not want to have sex with them. The nerosis and and shallowness are spot-on however.

What you are describing is rampant selfishness and self-absorption. She never once stopped to think if she had anything to offer this guy. She never once stopped to wonder if he was having a good time on the date; if she had, then she might not have been so surprised when he bolted.

There's a reason women like this are lonely: they have nothing to offer. They are sponges, only taking and never giving.

BTW, there are plenty of men out there that are just like this. And most of them are just as lonely and complain just as much about how awful women are these days.

There are a few exceptions but this applies to alot of single baby boomers.
