This blaming people by association is insane

Yes it is, but that's what they've been doing for years with the WOD witch hunt!

Good God folks, some people have enough money to carry a few thousand around. I've done it myself.

I have to admit it's pretty amusing and I do get a personal enjoyment out of watching the "Take the druggies into the center of town and summarily execute them!" GOP flacks here squirm and shimmy their way around their nominal views to support one of their own. "Rush is so brave, isn't he!" "I am overcome with compassion for Rush."

Mind you, I don't think Rush should go to jail, nor should anyone else for posessing drugs. I'm laughing at them rather than Rush.

It does show the absurdity of these arbitrary laws though. "Let's set the limit at $10000, and then automatically investigate everyone who takes out a legal amount that's just a little less than $10000."

You are right, the money has to be proceeds of an illegal activity such as drug DEALING not drug use.

Unfortunately, I have the feeling that Rush used this money not to buy drugs, but to PAY OFF that housekeeper.

Remember that part in the Natl Enquire story where the housekeeper said some lawyer came to her house and handed her a check for $100,000.????

I hate to say this, but I think this might have been what Limbaugh used that money for. After all, $300,000 or whatever the amount, would buy a lot of drugs.

In his mind, he was probably being blackmailed and didn't want to just pay her a check.

Man, I am bummed for Rush. You know, when you are strung out, you are not thinking straight. All you want to do is get through the day without feeling any pain.

I hope Rush did something legal with the money, something he can prove. If not, the feds can claim whatever they want.

but there may be a tax problem, did he evade taxes by illegally purchasing the drug on the "black market"? is there a sales tax on drugs in FL, or some other kind of tax? that may be the problem here, this thing with the $10K cash limit and the form is really nothing except a trumped up media story.

I hate to say this, but I fear Rush used the cash to pay that $100,000 check (or whatever it was) that the housekeeper spoke about in the Natl Enquire story. She claimed that some lawyer came to her house and gave her a check and demanded she turn over her computer.

She did turn a computer over, but not the one with incriminating emails, she claimed in the story.

The scenario, if true, does not bode well for Rush. I'm not sure about the legal implications of using cash to pay off a blackmail attempt.

So now he is buying from $300,000 to $400,000 on drugs? I guess next he has been running a small drug ring selling them to other conservative talk show hosts.

Remember the maid's claim of getting a $100,000 check (or maybe two checks for that amount) from a mysterious lawyer who knocked at her door asking her to turn over her computer with incriminating emails?

Methinks there could be more to this. And I hate the thought.

So it is ok if Americans launder money for illegal reasons but not the terrorist?

There's no law against laundering money. I do it all the time. Pennies, especially, turn up in the washer a lot.

There is a law that says you can't withdraw money in amounts greater than $10,000 without the bank having to report it. Rush didn't break that law. Neither did the bank. So no one's going to jail on this.

You're permitted to argue that people should go to jail for laws they didn't break, but if you really want to live in a country that does that, you should move to Cuba.

This seems to be an obvious lie. Deleting the email still leaves it on the mainframes and backup files of the web servers. Deleting the file would only work if you know the web server files have been deleted.

For you to keep repeating such obvious bull makes me wonder about your motives to post this.

Nor do I. The man is in pain and should be able to cope with it in any manner in which he deems appropriate. I don't think "getting addicted" was something he had in mind from the outset.
Of course, that whole "addiction" thing could all be a song and dance too since he got caught. You know how valued the "public confession" is to "reeducation".

"Man over God" _J post #371 (attempting to attribute those words to me)

I said nothing of the sort. Here is my post to you. I will not allow you to falsely attribute words to me.

Thanks again for the insight into your mind.

"basically stated: God authorizes gov't over man" _Jim (Jim's interpretation of scripture in post #157)

Well, that pretty well summarizes your position that man is/should be subservient to government. It explains most of your posts. I find it amazing that you attempt to justify this position with scriptures. Thanks for the insight into your mind.

I recommend reading the Declaration of Independence as a possible first step on your road to recovery.

Do you deny writing in #157 that you believe God authorizes governments to rule men? (And therefore individuals should submit to government)

I don't understand, how is withdrawing legal amounts of your own money, labeled laundering?

The banks failure to report suspicious transactions may be a problem for the bank. I do not believe that Rush has any liability. Rush has no duty to report his own transactions, and he can transact in any way he wants.
However, financial institutions have the same duty to report a series of transactions that my have been designed avoid the 10k trigger as they do a 10k transaction.

That is my take.

Regards,

As far as I am concerned - you're an uneducated nut who couldn't fight his way out of a paper bag given directions and a flashlight. Give it up 'cause you're swimming against the stream and a WHOLE lotta writings that make you look just plain silly ...

I did not expect the guy who thinks the scriptures say that man should be subservient to government to be fully rational, but I did expect more from you than that attempt at a personal insult.

Silly me.
