Shit. I was hoping they'd stay together long enough to pay the marriage penalty come April 15....

Even in the gay community, they talk about the mythical gay couple. It is just not very common for gay relationships to last.

The hetero average isn't much longer.
It's only the child support payments that last.

Then it stands to reason LAWYERS want to push Homosexual marragies so they can collect on divorce court.

The hetero average isn't much longer.

7.2 years, if you care to know.

Further quote from the article: "It also found that men in homosexual relationships have an average of eight partners a year outside their main partnership, adding more evidence to the "stereotype" that homosexuals tend to be promiscuous."

Dang, I don't think my wife would tolerate that many (or even one) girlfriends/year.

I don't know any Male to Male "marriages", but I do know quite a few female to female ones.

The Females that "do the ceremony" even though it's not recognized by the state, tend to stay together for 5+ years. I do know one circumstance where two females "married" and the one ignored it within 6 months. I know quite a few lesbians and of all of them, I'd say it's no better or worse than Male female marriages.

I'm against gay marriage however. Marriage is between a Man and a Women. I don't give a rats about what two people do at home, but don't expect me recognize unnatural acts as something to be cherised.

"Homosexual Unions Last Only 1.5 Years, Says New Study"

My wife and I've been married 22 years and 14 minutes is average for us.

6 minutes if I've been drinking.

The last figures for hetero marriage I heard was twenty years ago, when the average marriage lasted 6 years. I doubt it is much better today. Perhaps man/wife marriages should be disallowed because of high turnover, too.

In other words, homosexual marriages last about three times longer than Hollywood marriages.

don't think so. Divorce pays for lawyers if it is long and children are involved.

In fact many state bars activly encourage no asset short term marriages do-it-yourself. With standardised forms and affidavit requirements, it does not pay for any lawyer to do such a small case.

If anything, these 1.5 year marriages will clog dockets so that real divorce cases with real issues will eat up time on the docket.
