Some Would Write Off a South That Loves GOP
Re Ronald Brownstein's "In the South, GOP Rides the Wave of Bush's Popularity," Nov. 16:
[Snip]
However, as a true blue-state, big-city liberal, I am tired of having to kowtow politically to the most regressive part of the nation (the South) and defer to its most conservative constituency (white evangelical Christians).
[snip]
...it's that the retrograde mind-set embraced by the GOP and those voters does so well. As always, the South is an anchor dragging the rest of the country down.

Freepers can reply to:
letters@latimes.com. Give full name, address, phone. Only name and locale are printed. Letters shorter than 150 words have a better chance of publication.

As always, the South is an anchor dragging the rest of the country down.He is attempting to take the country to hell in a handbasket, and the South is hindering his progress.....

With the sort of arragance and ignorance displayed by this leftist it's no wonder the tide is turning in our favor.
The smarminess of the left is unbelievable.

We true Southerners don't recognize any state west of Texas, so as far as I'm concerned, this letter doesn't even exist. :)

***As always, the South is an anchor dragging the rest of the country down.***
Correction: The East Coast and the West Coast are dead weights dragging the rest of the country down.

LA Times should compare the outcomes of liberal society with Evangelical Christian (EC) society before they resort to emotional name calling. LA Times editor believe in freedom and EC believe in liberty (freedom bound by morality/time tested wisdom). Let us compare the teen suicide rate, drug addiction rate, divorce rate, life expectancy, HIV/STD rate, charity giving as a percentage of income, crime rate, unwed mother rate, high school graduation rate, SAT scores and other quality of life statistics. Once the comparisons are made than comment on whose approach to society is better.

"Cut the anchor and see how far you drift....."Absolutely correct ... usually, the anchor is dropped and set to avoid going on the rocks (or at least to prevent you from going somewhere you don't want to go).
Cut the anchor ... let the blue zone hit the rocks.
