[history]
A group headed by a former adviser to the Democratic National Committee has taken over the effort to create a liberal radio network to compete with conservative talk radio.
Mark Walsh, who's also a former America Online executive, said his investors' group bought the proposed network from the venture capitalists who started AnShell Media L.L.C. in February. The purchase price was not announced.

>>The purchase price was not announced.
Wonder how much he paid, because...
>>the Drobnys never hired any talent, purchased any stations or signed any distribution contracts.
How long is this liberal talkradio network gonna last, anyway? And what station would run it in YOUR market (maybe a 1 watt pirate?? :) )

The on-campus carrier-current radio station at the University of Wisconsin, Madison.

I've got a bridge these brilliant investors may be interested in.

Guess they needed someone else ready to pour money into this particular hole in the ground.

I think this was the DNC plan all along. Make it look like a "grassroots", privately-funded venture, then let the real party hacks take control.
And for years they've complained about how Rush, Hannity, etc. were simply GOP pawns.

All the time I thought the Drobny's were complete financial fools for taking on this project. Now I see that they are geniuses. They probably spent no money because the liberal media (and some talk shows) couldn't talk about their "new network" enough, now they actually sold this "product" to a group of suckers. Talk about creating money from thin air...

But the Drobnys never hired any talent,That's because there isn't any in the places they're looking. Putting loony libs on the air opposite the conservative powerhouses is like sending a one-legged man to an ass-kicking contest.

Unless the format is program host talk and interviews, they'll have to hire callers to fill the air time.

Well, I for one, am rooting for this to be a success!! Unlike the right wing stations, this neocommunist voice will be giving diversity people, people of color, and those physical/mentally challegned an opportunity to be entertainers. All the wonderful entry level considerations given to starters at, say, Berkeley, will be given to this organization's new hires. They will be a beacon that there is no hypocracy on the left. Golly, it will be great!

Exactly, they are going to try to hit up every campus in the US to run their garbage. No matter what the lefties say, all public universities are liberal breeding grounds, even up here in Conservative Fairbanks, AK.

Proposed public service announcement for new lib radio station: Although you might not believe it, I was once a highly paid executive for a major electronics firm. I'd come home exhausted every evening with a nagging headache and jagged nerves. Well, all that has changed now that I've learned about Welfare.
Thanks to Welfare I've quit my job, I sleep until noon, watch television all day and I STILL get a check every month in the mail.
Why I even save money at the checkout counter thanks to Welfare's food stamp program.
If you'd like to learn more about Welfare, just pick up your phone and dial, toll free, 1-800-W.E.L.F.A.R.E.
That's all there is to it!
Operators are standing by now.
Don't spend another week at work, call NOW!

Hey, is it true that the call letters for the NPR station in Madison, WI (WHA) stand for We Hate America? :)

>>What kind of sponsors are going to advertise during the Al Franken or the Micheal Moore show? Ads for the books by Frankenfraud and Michael "Two Dinners" Moore will run :) >>Who would the target market be? This hour of the Al Franken show is brought to you by EZ-Wider rolling papers, Rolling Stone magazine, and Starbucks. They certainly need better talent that Mario Cuomo (yawn) and Jim Hightower (yawn). In all honesty, Stephanie Miller (a liberal though she's the daughter of Goldwater's running mate!) did a pretty good show a few years back ("Stand Up News", etc.) She was entertaining and not all that preachy. I can't think of too many other people...ones that aren't strident or boring. Hey maybe they can pick up the show Communism Now-- er, Democracy Now, with that vixen Amy Goodman. It's run on several college stations and sometimes will pop up on public access cable. Programming perfectly suited (yawn...) for the all-liberal network, Comrade! :)
