That's a good point. Left the way things currently are going, the ayatollahs are bound to fall within a year or two. But perhaps they think that if they can somehow provoke us enough to get us to engage them militarily (and possibly stretch our forces too thin), that would throw a measure of unpredictability into the situation that would be favorable to them. .....banking on a regional "holy" war. Either way they must know they're screwed, so why not provoke war and see what happens?

Even if Saddam's role was limited to assistance and support activities for Al-Qaeda, as far as I'm concerned he's involved in 9-11.

I've had it with the mediots and their "experts" telling me what to think. Their credibility dried up after 9-11 when our troops got bogged down in the deep Afghan snows and chewed up by the crack Taliban guerillas, and then even worse our troops died by the tens of thousands in the bloody seige of Baghdad. Not.

I hope GW has the fortitude to start the ball rolling for a run up to giving IRAN an ultimatum. I realize we are talking BIG TIME decisions here BUT if that is where Bin Ladin is and WE KNOW IT FOR SURE, we have NO CHOICE IMHO.

I've had a little pet theory on the back-burner recently that it was actually Iran that sent the anthrax. Why? Well, we invaded Afghanistan and Iraq and we never got hit. So the people that did it are the ones we are too afraid to hit.
Is this over simple thinking?

It's simply repackaging of the laughably silly old theory that Iraq was behind the anthrax and we won't say so because of blackmail; which really doesn't look too good considering we invaded Iraq and deposed Saddam.

Do you SERIOUSLY believe that Bush, Wolfowitz, Rumsfeld et al. would genuinely not attack a country that they knew or suspected had sent the anthrax because they feared what that country would do to us?

Yep, that's quite possible. The next few weeks should be interesting. But even if we back off completely (after excepting their "gifts"), they can't hide from the revolutionaries within their borders forever. The ayatollahs' days are numbered no matter how one slices it.
