PCRM = PETA
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals has used a tax-exempt affiliate called the Foundation to Support Animal Protection (FSAP) to funnel at least $592,000 to PCRM. This foundation, whose letterhead now shows that it is doing business as The PETA Foundation, has the same mailing address as PETA, and PETA owns its website address. Newkirk and Barnard are two of FSAPs three directors.
And PETA itself directly gave PCRM over $265,000 between 1988 and 1999.
Barnard is PETAs medical advisor and regularly writes for PETAs publications. He admitted in a sworn deposition (International Primate Protection League v. Administrators of the Tulane Educational Fund, 1992) that PCRM has been housed at PETA headquarters in the past. He also acknowledged requesting and receiving money from PETA, and using a PETA-owned car to drive back and forth from work. According to Barnards deposition, PETA even paid the salaries of some of PCRMs staffers.
Citing an unnamed, former PETA employee, a 1989 article in Washingtonian magazine reads:
PETA funds were used, he says, to finance membership campaigns and activities of two anti-vivisectionist organizations, the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) and the National Association of Nurses Against Vivisection (NANAV). Both organizations were housed, rent-free, in PETAs headquarters, he says, and the respective heads of the groups, Neal Barnard and Susan Brebner, were introduced to him as PETA staff members. "

Great work. Your post is an example of one of the things that makes FR great.

Been on it for 2 years. Actually only been an Adkins Lite (my term) for last year. Meaning I just avoid sugars , potatoes and Flour (I occasionally disregard the diet on holidays and special occasions). I really don't count carbs anymore. At 40, havent felt better since my teens/20s. Maxed out at 220+ when I started, been at 185-190 for last 1.5 years with no struggle/effort what so ever. I use to live off daily Pepsid-AC pills, but I havent needed one in over a year. My Dr. is impressed with my blood test numbers. I use to get sick all the time. Ive probably been sick (repertory infections, colds ,etc) about 3-4 times in last two years. Not bad, as I was typically sick at least twice as often prior to this diet/life-style-change. Not sure if thats related to the diet, but Ive got a feeling it is. My wife is sick more frequently then I (shes a pasta/carb attic haha). Im on it for life, and I dont give a crap what "they" say. Im looking at real results.
