26 State Legislators Back PAN Initiative

Story and Photos By Rick Weiss

“Two ID’s are required to rent a video at Blockbuster; it should take at least one ID to vote,” says State Representative Russell Pearce (in photo, left), an advisor for the Protect Arizona Now initiative group currently circulating petitions around Arizona.

Pearce joined 25 other state legislators in a press conference on the lawn of the state capitol Thursday to announce their support of the Protect Arizona Now (PAN) initiative. The petition campaign began July 8 and has until July 1, 2004 to collect more than 200,000 signatures needed to place this initiative on the ballot.

Looks like the political worms are finally seeing which way the wind is really blowing. Sad how the Congressional delegation still hasn't gotten a clue. I'd be happy to throw Kyl and Shadegg out on their butts just to teach the AZ GOP a lesson: When 70+% of the electorate wants it, oppose it at your own risk!

Rep. Pearce also addressed the issue of the significant disconnect between the will of the people in Arizona and other states, from the political leaders of this and other states.

I'd like to see similar efforts in all states.

I'm not sure that it is just the Arizona GOP though, democrats have a significan (though circumstantial)history of using illegals for voter fraud, or to "pad the vote". I seem to remember clinton providing amnesty to thousands of illegals right before an election...am I wrong?

You're not the only one surprised...
Somebody telling our delegation that they won't get re-elected without the Hispanic vote?

Arizona needs to be protected from the 3 Stooges and their ilk!

At least Arizona has what appears to be quite a few legislators who are pro-borders. Here in NY it is very disappointing that despite 9/11 and other heinous crimes committed by illegal aliens, we have maybe one or two taking the issue seriously. Reps Sue Kelly and John McHugh come to mind.

So what is it going to take to wake these politicians up? I'd say the whole country needs to be protected from all the stooges who are tripping over themselves to reward these lawbreakers. Only in the United States is this absurdity allowed.

There is a "Protect Nevada Now" initiative just getting started too.

P.S. I think I am missing from the "ping" list.

Being we were recently successful in Illinois, I'd say the keyword is "Relentless!" fax, phone and phone again. CL can tell you how hard she had the group working -g-

And that we will be.

Btw, nice going in Illinois, they do seem to back down on the illegal alien nonsense when the media spotlight gets put on them.

I thought before I read this that it was about 26 states backing an initiative from the PAN political party of Mexico.
