SSAF -- We Didn't Lose Any Glass in Baghdad Sheraton Attack
Nich Ashton in Baghdad | 11-21-03 | dfu

I just heard on instant messaging from Baghdad. Nick Ashton, president of SSAF, is there working with the provisional government and other foreign government and commercial interests.

All the glass that SSAF protected at the Sheraton survived the attack. Nick was there a short time ago to make an inspection. He only had a moment to send me a message but I think he was indicating that Russian weapons were used.

That's it for now.

17th floor was hit. We protected several special floors and didn't lose a pane of glass.

I spoke on the phone twice yesterday with Nick. I guess the team is very, very busy and they have trained a lot of Iraqis to do work that will save lives. It is a shame that the U.N. was screwing around for months and putting out their glazing to competitive bids. We do it for a fair price, and we have the state of the art product in the world. A scathing report was issued after the U.N. blast. Many of the injuries and some of the deaths could have been prevented if film was on their glazing.
