LOS ANGELES -- After three days of congenial meetings and calls for bipartisanship, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger reverted to "Terminator" mode on Thursday, threatening legislators with "severe casualties" in the March and November elections if they fight his economic plans.

On his fourth day in office, lawmakers complained again about the lack of details in Schwarzenegger's plan, while the new governor traveled to Los Angeles to urge voters to pressure the Legislature to enact his proposals.

We need a new Cali motto, something like

"VOTE THEM OUT!"

His legislature is "complaining about the lack of details". Perhaps they could learn to ask the appropriate questions? And wait for the plan to be "opened for inspection"? I like a guy who takes a tough stand.

"The Republicans have a choice," he said on the Sacramento talk radio show. "It is the fiscal recovery bond or raising taxes. That is a choice that is up to them, because I am only going to make cuts to a certain point."

This is interesting. Is Arnold saying that he won't raise taxes but it will be the Republicans' fault if they go up?

No dog in this fight - my state's governor was fortunate enough to cut without raising taxes. But I've lurked the CA threads from the beginning.

Sounds like typical RATS strategy; "He doesn't have a plan! He doesn't have a plan!". How many times do we have to listen to this crap from them. The only plan you need when you're spending too much is to STOP SPENDING.

I wondered how long it would be before Arnold would wake up to "bi-partisanship". I did think it would be longer than two days. The RATS have better be careful because I think Arnold has the people behind him and elections are a year away. It will be a wonderful time for Republicans.

Schwarzenegger is smart, that's for damn sure.

His first week provides the illusion of movement and action. His repeal of the car tax increase is a faits accomplis, and has already won him the plaudits of the California taxpayer and the auto industry. He has put out a grand strategic plan to float a bond issue, bring workmen's comp into line, repeal the Illegal Licensce bill, and cut state spending, all in his first week.

His opponents are falling into the trap of being "green-eyeshade Republicans". Burton and his people are completely clueless; not only that, Burton will find that he will either cooperate on this issue and offer constructive advice or Arnold will take his case, and HIS bill, written HIS way, to the people in March.

This guy is going to be a success.

Be Seeing You,

Chris

Ooooh! I posted without noticing this. Very interesting. Why would he cut one tax and raise another and where-on business? Forget my first post.

Just the way another actor-turned-politician did things...

I'm gonna enjoy watching Arnold turn things around.

Steve Gourley was the head of the DMV. Arnold signs the car tax repeal, and Gourley says, "We don't know what this means." Arnold fired the guy, because he doesn't want any Gourley-men.

You think a $15 billion bond issue is a "grand strategic plan"?

And Arnold does not want to repeal the illegal license bill. Just last night he said he wants to find a way to make it work for everyone, i.e. still give the licenses, but not annoy anyone against it. He also said he wouldn't cut any programs that provide dog food to seeing eye dogs.

The San Francisco Democrat joined others in complaining...

Sen. Joe Dunn, D-Santa Ana, said Schwarzenegger's remarks signaled a return to "politics as usual."

Dunn said ... "...We will not react to partisan politics that do not help solve our huge problem."

Senate Majority Leader Don Perata, D-Alameda, said Schwarzenegger needs to recognize that the Legislature's job is to "provide the check and the balance" by questioning his plans.

"We are not stupid," Perata said. "We know we lost that election, but we are going to do our job."

But he pointed out that lawmakers were also elected.

Apparently he's doing something right! :D

This is interesting. Is Arnold saying that he won't raise taxes but it will be the Republicans' fault if they go up? ,p>In a way; he's telling them that he thinks the bond issue is the way to go - the voters get to vote on it. Otherwise, there are not enough viable cuts to do the job without raising taxes.

"We are not stupid," Perata said. "We know we lost that election, but we are going to do our job."

His performance of what he thinks is his job is precisely what got California into this mess. He and his ilk ar ethe disease that infests California.

Let's hope the Demonrats continue to stonewall Scharzenegger and the California economy suffers as a consequnce. They will pay for it at the polls.

Democrats are as dumb as dodos when it comes to economics and will soon become extinct - God willing. Thy are ONE species I DON'T want to see saved.

For the 2 shock jocks Ken and Barbie to not understand that a bond IS A FRIGGIN TAX INCREASE FOR all does not surprise me.. they are blathering idiots.....

BUT Arnold knows exactly what he is saying..... He treats the voter like SUCKERS....

I love this, giving the Republicans "The Sophie's Choice" of HOW TO INCREASE TAXES......

Can someone remind this GREENHOUSE RELEASING piece of work that HE IS A REPUBLCIAN.....
