Saturday, Nov. 22, President Bush signed a $9.3 billion military construction bill. The amount is $1.4 billion below last year's level, but $200 million more than Bush's request. Lawmakers added more than 100 projects for military facilities in their home districts - money that the President had not sought. The legislation provides money for projects throughout the country and improvements at U.S. bases overseas.
Today, Pres. Bush signed a $401.3 Billion defense bill that gives the Military a 4% raise. Pres. Bush then stopped at Fort Carson, CO., on his way to the ranch for the Thanksgiving weekend. Fort Carson has lost 27 soldiers in Iraq, and has sent 12,000 troops to Iraq.
At Fort Carson, Pres. Bush was to have lunch with soldiers, speak to a group of soldiers, families and friends, and meet privately with families of some who have died.

Oh gosh, I'd forgotten that incident.
If I had the photo, I'd post it, but that was on last year's, or the year before, computer, and it's long gone.

"I lost it when Bush started talking about the wife and her little 14 month old child. Bush nearly lost it himself a couple of times"
I lost it then, too.

I lost it too and President Bush almost lost it! God bless him and these dear families. For those of you who didn't hear the speech try going to the White House website and see if it is linked. It was a great speech but the response was certainly equal to it....they support this President because he supports them.

****Is his speech today from Fort Carson going to replayed ANYWHERE????? I had to work and missed it, wanted to see how the troops responded to him.

Check C-span. I'm sure one of their stations will carry it.
I see if I can check for you.

"He went to CO today, AZ tomorrow, then the ranch"
Really ? I thought I heard on Fox that he was going to CO and AZ today then to Crawford later tonight. Well, no matter when he goes, I'm delighted he'll be at his beloved ranch with his loved ones. His remarks about "loved ones" after he returned from Britian sounded like he was needing some quality family time away from the cameras.

Fox did say that he was heading to Fort Carson today, the ranch tonight, and will visit Arizona tomorrow for a fundraiser (but I assume that means returning to the ranch). So basically, he's at the ranch as of tonight.

I just checked C-span.org and as of right now, until 10 PM tonight, none of their stations seem to be planning on broadcasting it.
Eventually the text and maybe the video will show up on whitehouse.gov.

his speech today was awesome

The response has been overwhelming...I'll get all of you the info as soon as Mike gets it to me.....Both were injured very badly...one has just been moved to Walter Reed from Germany, he was finally stable enough...he has a broken back and other injuries...the other soldier has severe head injuries and will need facial reconstruction, sigh....
thanks

I agree. I heard most of it - it was spectacular. I couldn't help responding to the troops thunderous responses to him - they do love their CinC, as do I.
I've found parts of the spech quoted on Yahoo but cannot yet find the entire speech. When/if I do, I'll be sure to post it here.
That's all the pictures for now!

I really wish FOX would do re-runs of his speeches or that there was somewhere where we could watch. When you work, you miss so much. I don't care about most of the speeches, but I really want to see the ones when he speaks to our military.

when his face torqued up about the lost soldiers
