Da$$hole had this bill rigged to double the output of ethanol to replace the poison MTBE which he helped to mandate into our gasolines.

It takes more energy to produce ethanol, than it gives back. It was in there as a sop to the RATs to get what we really needed. This will come back to haunt them if we have a cold winter.

Currently 22 degrees here and last week's storage withdrawals were roughly 5 times historical average. This week's will be even greater with the current cold wave across much of the country.

But the dang market is just laying there like one of those hot-tub gays!

But unlike those hot tub gays, the market doesn't have a high chance of having a serious viral disease and despite all the RAT and presstitute attempts, it will not be screwed in the end, because the fundamentals are all improving.

Tom Sullivan, the conservative talk show host in Sacramento who has sub for Rush, is a very intelligent/investment type of guy.

He was all over this bill yesterday afternoon. He pointed out what you posted here: "It takes more energy to produce ethanol, than it gives back. It was in there as a sop to the RATs to get what we really needed. This will come back to haunt them if we have a cold winter."

Ethannol is typical of the so called clean alternatives to carbon based fuels. The energy and $ cost of producing these lamea$$ alternatives is outrageous. The companies producing these lamea$$ alternatives often get our tax $ as subsidies to produce these lamea$$ alternatives.

From what I saw of the wind, solar and ethanol provisions, the subsidies were HUGE.

Domenici accused Democrats of "leading a parade to kill the most important provision ever thought up for farmers."

Why do they covet the farm vote so much? Farmers are a distinct minority!!! Cows don't vote and farmers votes don't amount to a hill-O-beans!!!

It has to be an Electoral College thing, only!!!

Hay!!! Looky at da NEW SPELL CHECKER BUTTON ON FR!!!

Daschle won't be there in 2005. If he can't deliver on ethanol, there is no reason for his conservative state to reelect him.

Yes, MTBE was mandated by Clinton's EPA to cut down on air polution from gasoline. Why shouldn't the states who have poisoned their ground water with this chemical sue the Feds for screwing up...again.

If the state sue the feds, we lose as tax payers.

Sue the green watermelon enviralists and the companies who pushed the poison, MTBE into our gas tanks.

You mean he's not already?

"A GOP official close to the negotiations said several Senate Democrats had expressed a willingness to change their votes and support the bill if the MTBE liability provision were taken out, but backed away from the idea after Republicans won a key vote Monday on a Medicare prescription drug bill."

I am not sure what this means, but the republicans had better not be tring to make it easier to put that toxic crap in Gasoline. It has gotten into the water supply and is a way more an enviromental problem than the one it was supose to fix. Which is almost always the case when the government meddles with things.

I agree drop the goodies(ethenol, wind ,solar)out and keep the MTBE liability restriction in.

Dominci worked very hard on this. Too bad it was just so full of pork.

Democrats didn't want to hand the president another triumph on a marquee piece of legislation, the official said.

This bill was a "piece" of something alright, and it stunk. There was way too much bloat added to this dog and I hope the Republicans bring it back next year without all the added fat (but I won't get my hopes up).
