Smacking Dean upside the head on the issues is fine. Family, however, should be off limits even under these trying circumstances.

His brother was not a soldier. He does not deserve military honors.

That's not attacking Dean's family. That is a fact.

You are dead wrong.

Dean is looking for a flag-draped photo opportunity. There is no damn reason why his commie brother should get military honors. Thanks to Drudge, this will likely be fixed pronto.

His brother was a putz civillian who walked into a warzone and was killed by the cretins he sympathized with.

Why should his remains be pushed to the very front of the list to be exhumed, identified, and returned by the US military BEFORE brave men who gave their lives in service to their country?

Someone with influence led to the course of events that led to this situation.

Dean is a well connected Governor.

Who is responsible? Not the CINC I would guess.

I think this is VERY relevent! If it was Dean, then the public should find out what to expect from such a self-serving putz.

With full military honors, no less!

At a time they can't find buglers to play at funerals of US servicement dying in Iraq and Afghanistan.

----Smacking Dean upside the head on the issues is fine. Family, however, should be off limits even under these trying circumstances.----

This is every bit within limits. I, for one, consider it an issue when a man who didn't serve -- a man who just happens to have been the brother of the front-runner for the Democrat nomination for President of the United States -- is buried with all the ceremony and recognition ordinarily afforded those who gave their all for their country.

I know that I, a civilian, could never rest in peace if I were buried with honors I didn't earn. Regardless of how the Brother Dean might have felt about it, Howard has no business and no right to cheapen those honors, that most everyone else paid for in blood.

What are you saying? Are you trying to say that this should be overlooked because it is a family matter?

If so, it looks like you are overlooking the abuse of power and connections. How about the fact that this will put additoinal stress on families of REAL military men who lost their lives. JPAC's duty is not to search for and recover civilian remains. It is to recover Soldier's remains. If they happen across civilian remains, fine - and let the families pay for their return. In no way should Dean's family come before the families of our lost soldiers. Dean should be ashamed of himself - but he is a RAT - thus having no moral fiber.

Nothing about this Dean is clean - and this case just prooves his being a rotten turd.

Yes, it is shameful that Dean is using his deceased brother a campaign prop.

This is about Dean. Without which his brother would not have the honors.

WRONG!!!

If Dean is orchestrating this, or, if some demolib butt-kisser in the minitary is trying to suck up to Dean, then this has to be a legitimate target.

I am SO SICK of a faux intelligensia pawning themselves off as social superiors to the rest of us. This is just an example. "I am His Lordship Dean, the true and rightful President, you must deign to my every whim".

I am f***king FURIOUS over this one!!!

"Smacking Dean upside the head on the issues is fine."

You should strive to be able recognize an moral and election-time issue when you see it.

This whole thing stinks and indeed is an obscene affront to both the memories of our warriors who served and died and to their families -- unless Dean's brother and his similarly favored foreign friend in fact were spec operators working on our side.....

Normally I would agree with you. But if the charges that Dean used his political influence to have his non-military brother bumped ahead of those who served this nation, then this should be brought to the fore. Moreover, why should a civilian be given a burial with military honors when they did not die in service to this nation?

This matter merits further investigation. If confirmed, it should be seriously considered as an abuse of authority.

He brought his family into it by demanding and getting special treatment for family, and at OUR expense...
